I'm Kate. I'm a 25 year old feminist, student, expatriate, historian, and professional fangirl. As of right now, I live in Nebraska, but that's getting ready to change as I'm leaving for Japan to teach English for a year! After my year in Japan is over, I'm hoping to go to grad school in England to get a Master's in ancient Roman history. After that, I'm hoping to finish up my schooling by getting a PhD in Roman history with a specialty in Roman religion.

Yes, I am aware that I am a nerd.

I LOVE MUSIC! My favorite bands/musicians are, and this will show you how eclectic my taste is: The Beatles, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Muse, Bush, Led Zeppelin, Adele.

I also really love Gaga (for some reason), Bruno Mars, Dashboard Confessional, Editors, Florence + The Machine, Kate Nash, Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon, Radiohead, Outkast, Snoop, Bad Company, Queen.

And I still love Nsync and Backstreet Boys. Not ashamed either.

I love discovering new music as well. There's not much music I don't like listening to!

Like any red blooded human, I love Harry Potter. I grew up reading those books and they really opened my eyes to the excitement and joy you can get out of reading. My favorite character is Sirius (obvs), followed closely by Snape, followed closely by Lupin. My perfect fantasy is for Jo to write Marauder's Era prequels to the Harry Potter series.

I read Twilight. I don't regret reading them, I just wish things had turned out MUCH more differently than they had. For what it's worth, pre-imprinting, I was Team Jacob 1000%.

Hunger Games owns a considerable portion of my heart as well. I loved that Katniss was an imperfect and reluctant hero. It really made her a great, three dimensional character. Also, Peeta is just about the best thing ever.

I'm starting to read the Sherlock Holmes stories for reasons. One, I've always wanted to read them but never got around to it. B, BBC Sherlock is dominating my life right now.

My favorite book of all time is Le Petit Prince. If you know it or have read it, I love you forever. My other favorite book is The Scarlet Letter. Frankenstein also ranks among my favorites. Any Chuck Palahniuk book but especially Survivor.

So right now, BBC Sherlock is my number one obsession. I can't even...

Doctor Who is also pretty high on my list of priorities.

SUPERNATURAL. I'M SO CONCERNED ABOUT EVERYONE.

Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and True Blood are also causing me to rip my hair out.

I love Project Runway and RuPaul's Drag Race. I just want a drag mother so badly.

All time favorites include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Office, Charmed, Torchwood, Spaced, Oz, Bones (though I think the show's really gone downhill in the last couple of years). If Law and Order or SVU are on, I will watch it. I reluctantly say Lost; I devoted so much time and thought to that show but was left so disappointed in the ending.

My favorite movie of all time is Welcome to the Dollhouse. If you have seen this movie, we are friends for life.

Other favorites include Shaun of the Dead, Shawshank Redemption, Beetlejuice, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, original Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Matilda, Death to Smoochy, Uncle Buck, To Wong Foo, Willow, NeverEnding Story, American Beauty, The Princess Bride.

I love a lot of movies. And I love to watch movies until I can recite the lines.

I love trying new teas and coffees.

I love magazine clippings. I'm always making collages.

I have a flower fetish. My favorites are calla lilies and ranunculuses.

I also love oils that smell like flowers, especially roses and lavender. If something smells like either of those two things, I'm instantly in love.

Peppermint is my favorite taste in the world. I love it more than things I haven't even tasted yet.

If it has to do with Europe, I will probably be enamored with it.

I love the French language (I speak a little bit). I also love Italian though I don't speak any yet.

I love photos!

I collect patches from all the countries I've traveled to. I'm hoping to make a really cool denim purse with them some day!

I only like white chocolate.

If it's vintage, I'm in.

Dislikes:

I'm not that into stickers.

Anything that smells too strong -- makes my brain hurt.

I'm not really into milk chocolate and I really don't like dark chocolate.
