About Me

I did a few of these (art and writing) in high school, one or two in college, and had as many penpals as I could keep up with since elementary school... Now my wife is doing a few journal swaps and I'm thinking about getting back into this. I've got a craft room filled with supplies and half-finished projects, but what I do most of the time is sketching (sometimes watercolor paintings) and making jewelry.

I'm looking for a challenge to help me expand my style, see what others are doing, and trade art with other artists.

I am a registered nurse and worked hard to get there! Spirituality, art, music, and cats are the things that keep me going. I have dreams of moving to San Francisco and becoming a piercer when I retire from this, but no plans yet :)

Favorite Crafts

Jewelry-making, sketching, watercolors, sewing (not very good at this), making tiny paper cranes out of things lying around (receipts, etc). Decorating things. Costumes for my poor cats.

I have a fascination with bizarre and creepy things and unconventional beauty, and my art often reflects that.

Favorite Music

Deftones, Tool, Collide, Prodigy, Fischerspooner, Boards of Canada, A Perfect Circle, Garbage, Enya, Stabbing Westward, Telefon Tel Aviv, Savage Garden, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps, Faith and the Muse

Favorite Books

Illusions (Richard Bach), Chuck Palahniuk's writing, Astral Projection and the Nature of Reality (John Magnus), Astral Dynamics (Robert Bruce), Adventures Beyond the Body (William Buhlman)

Favorite Television

The X-Files, Family Guy, Archer, The Office, American Dad, House, Spongebob Squarepants

Likes and dislikes

Alex Grey and HR Giger are two of my favorite artists. I love surrealism, twisted fairy tales, mythical and sci-fi creatures, things that are both scary and beautiful, art with a psychedelic or spiritual theme, art inspired by dreams, and Tarot symbolism or art tarot decks.

My favorite color is green. I also like rainbow things, pink/black/white, green/black, stars, and camouflage.

I've seen very creative still-life paintings and drawings, but I always prefer a scene from someone's imagination to something on their kitchen table.

There isn't much that I don't like. I love seeing other people's art in their own styles.

I guess my only "dislike" is religious art. I think faith and love for a higher power is a great thing, in whatever form it takes, but as a religious Jew, I wouldn't feel comfortable hanging a cross or something similar in my home.

If I just wanted art that matched my style and interests, I'd draw it myself. Whatever the style or subject, if creativity and effort has gone into it, I will probably love it :)

Comment: OH MY GOSH! Did I LUCK OUT! You're so talented and I really enjoy your point of view and subject matter! I love the tarot and I really enjoy the many images from the classic tarot that you included in this journal. I also hope you invent a dream recorder/viewer one day - that would be the best invention ever! Your self portrait is beautiful and it was neat seeing the cartoon versions of me that you drew! I will treasure this collection of artwork for a lifetime! VERY SINCERE THANKS!
