Warning: I work in veterinary medicine, I also rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected, injured and abandoned critters in my own time, my own home and on my own dime. I do my best to keep my swaps pet hair free, but obviously, sometimes a renegade sneaks in. If you're someone who is going to be upset by this, or you have allergies which make this a legitimate issue, please don't swap with me. (Or let me know in advance, so I can try to accommodate you.)
Note: I work 12-16 hour days 6 days per week, and am on call at all times. My swaps are usually posted from a drop box as I can't get to the post office during business hours. Accordingly, the send dates and postmarks will not always match. Please keep this in mind.
Now, on with the profile...
Please check out Peace One Day and make your own personal commitment for peace.
I like all things purple and sparkly. I prefer used books to new ones or eBooks. They are just more interesting.
I'm not a particularly crafty person, but I have periods where I delude myself that I am.
I am an avid cookbook reader/collector. I particularly enjoy historical cookbooks - anything old or obscure rocks my world. I have several wartime cookbooks in my collection that are particular favorites of mine.
I have a not so secret love of L.M. Montgomery, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters and Elizabeth Gaskell.
I adore silent movie stars and pin-up girls.
I'm a poetry nut. I love words and grammar, and seriously considered going into linguistics.
I speak and read passable German.
Cardamom is my very favorite smell/taste in the entire world, and I find a way to sneak it in to just about everything.
I've been collecting postcards and stamps since I was a little girl. I love that my nerdy childhood hobbies became "cool" in my adulthood.
I'm a gamer and quite geeky. I also love sports - hockey, football (read: soccer) and rugby are my favorites.
Favorite critters include monkeys and frogs. (However, if it's a critter I love it. Including creepy crawlies.)
I'm very "green." I'm all about recycling/repurposing. I buy local, I buy package-free, I buy fair trade and I buy used.
I adore Halloween - and all that it implies. Bats, pumpkins, black, orange, candy corn (loooooove candy corn!), you name it.
I love politics. All politics. I've been collecting political ephemera for most of my life (postcards, stamps, posters, etc.). Please don't be afraid to send me something political or express your political inclinations with me.
.Anything blue - and I do mean anything. .paper dolls. .postcards, all sorts. .ladybugs. .photographs. .maps. .recipes. .secrets. .stories (zines, handwritten, typed, short, long). .recycled/repurposed goods. .pin-up girls/starlets. .theatre playbills. .anatomical images. .halloween themed goodness. .robots. .ninjas. .monkeys. .sock monkeys - sock anythings.
.pink. .onions - I am allergic to the entire allium family, and deathly so. (this includes lilies!). .wasteful packaging.
I love them. All of them. I adore the Brothers Grimm, in particular Der Froschkönig. I'm also fond of Hyazinth und Rosenblütchen. I like English ones as well, for the record. It's just that I can't think of any at the moment...
