About Me

Hello! I am an elementary school art teacher and love experimenting with all types of materials. I studied architecture and graphic design in college and started out as a very rigid artist. I am trying to move out of my comfort zone to make more playful, abstract art.

I live with my husband and 3 cats (klutter, apricot and roo) in Massachusetts. We are Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots fans. We are both very competitive and love playing sports. Tennis and Swimming are my favorites.

Favorite Crafts

I love to create my own jewelry, especially with PMC (precious metal clay). I also do a lot of wire work to create rings, earrings, and necklaces. I just sold my first two pieces (December 2013)!!! Feel free to check out my facebook page, GreenBee jewelry! I'm hoping an etsy account is in my near future.

I also enjoy bookbinding and and making miniature models.

Occasionally I will get into sewing and knitting.

Now that I've joined SB I love making ATCs and inchies/twinchies. Making miniatures and crafts are my favorite so it's the best of both worlds.

Favorite Books

My Favorite book is the Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. I also enjoy any children's book I can read to my classes and turn into a project. When reading at home I like mystery adventures especially when there is a hint of historical fiction - Dan Brown and Clive Cussler books

Likes and Dislikes

If you are sending me a swap, I love seeing handmade work rather than print outs and stickers. Even if you do not think you are a good artist! I teach young children and appreciate the effort and abilities of all ages.

Likes: Miniatures... anything miniature I love, souveniers representing countries/cities around the world (especially miniature ones) Postage stamps from around the world, old book pages and maps, unique textiles, texture, Unusual architecture, blues and greens, nature (mountain ranges, waterfalls, jungles), Turtles, animal print, Bees (non realistic), Silhouettes, Typography, Simple design, handmade art, Mixed media, Unique Artistic techniques, Tea (black, white, and herbal), Chocolate (milk and white), Washi tape

Dislikes: The colors red and green together, religious or Christmas themes, Rooibos Tea, Really sweet tea, Kawaii, disney, blood, goth, Spiders, Realistic bugs, Stickers

Materials

I'm always looking for new ways to create art. As of right now I tend to use:

Water soluble crayons, paint, colored pencils, sharpies, tissue paper, scrap paper, glue (as texture), wire, seed beads, buttons, rubber stamps, embroidery thread, felt, fabric, black pens.

If you have any fun techniques that you use, I'd love to hear about them!

Sending and Receiving

Please contact me if you never received my swap. I have already had 2 packages get lost in the mail (extremely frustrating) but I will always send another.

I try to rate as soon as I open a swap and would appreciate the same courtesy. Mostly so I know the swap arrived. I tend to give hearts especially when there is at least a simple note inside the package. It feels so much more personal and I really enjoy reading them. I have a box of every letter I've received so far ( just not quite sure what I'm going to do with all of them yet).

Happy swapping!
