About Me

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I turned 22 earlier this year. My hobbies include art-related endeavors, kawaii, online shopping, music, crochet, origami, papercraft, photography, jewelry making, pysanka, dungeons & dragons, reading, video games, anime, comic books, B horror movies, martial arts, film noir, playing piano, guitar, and hand drums, and a long list of other things. Also, I like to collect things, mostly boxes or interesting paper goods or random foreign items.

I have a cat named Luna that I rescued and took with me when I moved from Louisville. She is a tortoiseshell tabby and she is adorable. I call her Ninja Cat. I have a boyfriend who everyone calls Hildy, but his name is actually Jason. He is working towards a bachelor's degree with a major in exercise science and a minor in martial arts, and plans to be a personal trainer or martial arts instructor when he gets out.

I like things that are cute, but I admit that some things are a little too cute for my taste. My screen name is gothfaerie, but not everything I like is goth; far from, actually. :-) I also like things that are retro, and I love video games and some anime. I'm not really a fan of really frilly things or monkeys. My favorite color is red. I love rich colors and interesting color schemes. Which isn't to say I'm averse to pastels or dark colors, I just enjoy rich and vibrant pigments and interesting patterns.

NOTE: I AM A BIT BEHIND ON RATING RIGHT NOW. I prefer to leave a personal message with my ratings, because I think it's more polite. The only time I don't do this is when I accidentally get my package senders mixed up, which I try to be careful not to do. Regardless. If you have sent me a package and are waiting for a rating, do not fret! Lol. They should be coming soon.

On that note, I have recently (during the last couple of weeks) become the recruiter for a new role playing gaming group that some friends of mine started near my hometown. Between that, the job search, and my boyfriend and my upcoming anniversary (and his recent bday, which I missed because I was sick, unfortunately), another recent birthday, and trying to keep up with the housework while recovering from a nasty cold, I am running slightly behind on some things. Rest assured, however, if you are expecting a package from me, you WILL get it. If I'm running late with it, I will try to add some kind of handmade or useful extra as a thoughtful gesture for your patience.

In terms of any upcoming swaps I am signed up for that I am not hosting...if you are concerned about my participation, I would strongly prefer that you message me regarding the issue before just dropping me from the swap. I check my Swap-Bot more often than my e-mail, and if you are that concerned, I would prefer to voluntarily drop myself from the swap rather than take the time to make and assemble a package just to check my dashboard for my partner's address on the beginning sending date and find I have been dropped from the swap. I don't mean to be testy, but this has happened to me twice before and I would prefer not to have it happen again. Thanks!

Favorite Crafts

Origami, papercrafts, painting, drawing, sculpting, jewelry making, photography, collage, calligraphy, crochet, sewing, cardmaking

Favorite Music

Mostly hard rock, some metal and a smidgen of hip hop/rap/pop. And some oldies, mostly from the late 60's/early 70's or the late 80's/early 90's.

Some bands/artists I like are Alice in Chains, Nirvana, The Killers, The Caesars, RAMMSTEIN, Nine Inch Nails, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, U2, The Beatles, The Ramones, The Doors, CSNY and CSN, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Pearl Jam, System of a Down, The New Pornographers (it's an indie rock band with surprisingly tame music for the name...just to clarify, lol), The Vines, The Foo Fighters, The Offspring, MC Chris, Alice Cooper, the Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Metallica (some), Queens of the Stone Age, Bush, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, Golden Earring, Benny Goodman, Edward Grieg, Coldplay, The Prototypes, DAVID BOWIE, John Fogerty, Credence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, PHILPOT, Jimi Hendrix, Stone Temple Pilots, Jane's Addiction, Prozak, Green Day, Johnny Cash, Gorillaz, M.I.A., George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Joan Jet and the Blackhearts, A.F.I., Louis Armstrong, Scott Joplin, Beck, K.T. Tungstal, Sting, The Police, Jimmy Eat World, Poison Mushroom, Collective Soul, The White Stripes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Beck, Amy Winehouse, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Jet, Franz Ferdinand, Love Arcade, Aerosmith, The Trans Siberian Orchestra, Mozart

Dislikes

Boy bands, banana flavored instant pudding, most monkeys (lemurs and marmosets are exceptions), CHIMPS (sorry yo I've seen what those things do in the wild, they freak me out), most Disney things (with some exceptions like Mulan and some Alice in Wonderland...Beauty and the Beast and various princesses are alright, too), things that are too young for me to wear or use without feeling very silly :-P, disco, Dora the Explorer, Diego, etc. (they're incredibly cute, but most of such items I receive end up going to my friends' kids lol).

Animals: I'm not a fan of most dogs. I don't like "real" zoomed in photos of spiders.

Skulls. Unless presented artfully. I'm just not into biker gear. Pirate stuff is cool, though.

I do not have pierced ears or any other piercings because my skin tends to break out, so I don't have much of a use for pierced earrings.

CLOWNS. With a few exceptions.

Pocket mirrors, unless they double as a compact.

I don't use lip liner and I look really odd in very pastel shades of lipstick.

Very chunky bracelets - my wrists are too skinny and they look awkward on me.

Understated jewelry.

The Bee Gees, gangsta rap, Poison, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Michael Jackson

Twilight. I've never read any of the books, so logic dictates that I shouldn't claim to dislike them. However, I've seen so dang much of it without having read it that it's become a bit like Napoleon Dynamite or Family Guy in that I've heard far too much of it.

Blood and Chocolate. Never saw the movie but sorry, the last 20 pages or so of the book just made me angry.

Paris Hilton.

I don't currently attend any sort of classes, so back to school themes are annoying to me, lol, sorry. It's just that, like I said, I'm not a student at the moment (at least in the traditional sense...I'm always learning!), and also I get very tired of the marketing tirade one must endure every July through September.

Cherubs.

Baked goods with coconut oil or heavy amounts of preservatives.

I find it a bit annoying when hair gets stuck in packages, but as my own almost reaches my elbows and there are three cats in my house, it's not like I'm going to yell about it, lol. In other words, I'm pretty understanding.

Favorite Television

Doctor Who (new series), Robot Chicken, Secret Saturdays, Ben 10 and Ben 10 Alien Force, Cowboy Bebop, Fooly Cooly, Samurai Champloo, Ruroni Kenshin, Bleach, Gundam Wing, the various Tenchi Series (of which Tenchi in Tokyo is my favorite), Burn Notice, Dexter, Pushing Daisies, Chuck, NCIS, Sealab 2021, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Firefly, Shaun the Sheep, Shin Chan, The Big Bang Theory, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Boondocks, Penguins of Madagascar, Stargate SG-1, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Ninja Warrior (Sasuke), Invader Zim, Angel

Favorite Movies

Death to Smoochy, Kung Fu Hustle, The Drunken Master, The Forbidden Kingdom, all of the Harry Potter films, Kill Bill Volumes I and II, Pulp Fiction, Planet Terror, The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly, About A Boy, Elf, A Christmas Carol starring Patrick Stewart, X-Men, Spirited Away, Armitage III, Armitage Dual Matrix, Chocolat, Benny & Joon, The Crow, Stardust, The Watchmen, The Spirit, 300, Shaun of the Dead, Bend It Like Beckham, In Bruges, Serenity, Mixed Nuts, the Wallace and Gromit films, Nosferatu, Cloverfield, old Godzilla movies, anything with Bruce Campbell in it, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle In The Sky, Stargate, The Fifth Element, Ever After, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorshands, National Treasure, Bangkok Dangerous, Finding Nemo, Stranger Than Fiction, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Tomb Raider, Live Free Or Die Hard, Bean: The Movie, Bean's Holiday, Johnny English, Blood: The Last Vampire, Vampire Hunter D, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Feast, Fifty First Dates, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Monty Python in Search for the Holy Grail, A Christmas Story

Wish List

Rhinestones, sequins, anything with bats (the animal) on it, pinup art, cool playing cards, vintage things, lace, ribbons, stationary, pretty fabric or paper, origami paper (right now I'm specifically looking for an origami swan kit), things with piano keyboard patterns or musical note patterns. Anything pertaining to the new Doctor Who! :-) I love patterned paper and kawaii, especially food and sweets related. I also love Domo-kun and Monokuro Boo, and have been on the lookout for a Pill-chan memo pad!

I like almost all candy -- as a seasonal thing, I'm particularly partial to candy corn, mellowcreme pumpkins, and caramels. I LOVE Halloween, and since it's that season, I would be happy to receive anything of an autumn or Halloween theme! I also adore toasted pumpkin and squash seeds and recipes for those fruit, and will probably be making them soon. :-) For that matter, I love pumpkins and squash.

I'm also rather partial to toffee and things that contain it. Also, Toblerone, Symphony, and Lindt truffles, though I've been told these things do not travel so well in the warmer months.

I love any kind of tea! Herbal, caffeinated, decaffeinated, it's all good! :-) I'm also a fan of hot cocoa. I do enjoy coffee sometimes, but I don't have a coffee maker, so I can't really make it myself.

I love all kinds of art! Doodles, classical, contemporary - I'm an artist, so I love anything art-related! I especially love art nouveau advertising posters and vintage seasonal art, advertising, and pin-ups. It's harder to find, but retro-style science fiction and horror themes are awesome, too.

I love watermelon, strawberry, mint, and vanilla flavors, and can usually be found with one of them as a lipgloss, gum, mint, etc. in my purse or pocket. :-)

I use a lot of lipgloss, and I believe that cherry carmex or watermelon flavored are wonderful.

I like keychains, but it's been a long time since I've used many, on account of my favorite ones have long since either broken or been stolen (with one of my favorite purses, long story).

I really dig cute socks and stockings. Especially seasonal/hard to find ones - cable, patterned, fishnet, striped, etc. Cool fishnets and striped stockings are very easy to find around Halloween.

I am obsessed with paper lanterns and autumn decor! :-) I have cats and I love bats, so as a result I collect Halloween things with cats and bats on them. I've also recently become a fan of owls, but Halloween cats are still my favorite.

Foreign stamps, currency, and postcards! I love things written in foreign languages!

Comment: Received inchies, so changed from a 1 to a 3 due to how late it was sent. These are lovely and you were quite generous with all the extras.. Thank you.. This would have received a 5 if sent on time...
Response: It's okay, to be honest, I almost expected to get a three for how late this was sent. However, I did want to make sure I sent a nice package, as you really were very patient. :-) I'm glad you liked it!

Comment: Hi Jennifer. I received the postcard from you on August 17. Was this your second mailing or were you just late mailing it? I think the scenery on the card is beautiful. Sylvia
Response: I was late sending it. :-! I joined the swap wanting to send a postcard of my hometown, which I KNOW they sell somewhere around here, but still have yet to discover where. With the tourism efforts of this place, I really didn't see it being an issue, heh. Anyway, I never found a pic of my hometown but I did find something very close and interesting. :-) I'm very glad you liked it!
