Favorite Television

Well, I don't have a tv right now, so I depend on Netflix, my small DVD collection, and whatever I can watch on Hulu or YouTube.

That being said, my absolute favorite shows are British mysteries, particularly Poirot, Miss Marple and Rosemary & Thyme.

I also like to watch the old Perry Masons, Twilight Zone, and I love the Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

The only modern show that I like right now if 30 Rock. ;)

Favorite Crafts

Anything that requires the use of scissors and glue. I don't feel like I've really been creative until I've had the chance to smear adhesive on something!

I'm mostly drawn to paper crafts, and anything fun and simple. I like working with little bits of different paper, found objects, and fabric scraps. I don't do any fine arts such as painting or ceramics.

I have tried teaching myself to knit time and time again to no avail. One day...

Favorite Books

Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Uglies, Pretties, Specials... It's been surprising for me to realize just how much I love young adult literature, especially since I didn't really read any as a young adult!

Besides this, my taste in books is more old fashioned...

Secret Garden, Nancy Drew, The Betsy books by Caroline Haywood are some of my favorites.

I also love British mysteries by Agatha Christie, and the novels of Barbara Pym.

Favorite Movies

Lord of the Rings

My Swap Philosophy

I am here, first and foremost, for the experience. I love the idea that we are all taking the time to make and send nice things to each other through the mail. When I receive a card or a package it always brightens my day.

I am proud of what I make, and I would never send anything out that I wouldn't want to receive or make for myself. My crafting style is fairly clean and simple, so that will influence the packages that I put together for swaps. I get my biggest thrill out of planning what I will send, and then bringing everything together in the end. These swaps are a great way to rev up my creativity and keep me motivated in crafting.

I do my best with each swap. I'm not here to get something for nothing, or to skimp my way through swaps. I want to have a good experience here and maintain a positive presence in this community.

I happily receive anything that is sent to me in good faith. I am not a wish list sort of person, but am more interested in how others interpret different swaps.

Comment: Two very pink and very flat hearts. I loved them both and the card was well done too. I'm curious though why the swap page shows that you sent 2/6 and the metered postage on the envelope shows it sent 2/15 (5 days after the swap deadline of 2/10). Regardless, I like what you sent a lot. Thank you!
Response: As I'm sure you're aware, the Mid-Atlantic region was hit with two blizzards in the past two weeks that broke all snow fall records that have stood in the area for more than 100 years. I actually finished your hearts on the morning of 2/5, put the package together at work that day, and put it in the mail room to be posted. A few hours later, the DC government issued a severe storm warning, our office closed, and we were all told to go home and stay home. The entire region was then snowed in for the next week. The government was closed from Monday to Thursday, during which time mail was not delivered or picked up from most locations. Regardless, Monday, 2/15 was my first day back in the office, as it was for the workers in the mail room. I could have no idea whether or not they had been able to process and post the package to the mailbox in our building before the blizzard hit on Friday. I send all of my swaps through my office mail room, and they do a very good job at metering and posting things in a timely fashion. But, on this occasion, even if they had processed the package so that the meter stamp read '2/5', it would have sat in the downstairs mail pick-up until 2/15 when *our* mail carrier finally made it through to our office building. On 2/6 I logged onto Swap-bot and marked the package as sent because I had sent it. The package was out of my hands, and for all I knew, on the way to its destination. If I had known that our mail room workers hadn't finished (or started) processing the mail before we left on Friday, I would have let you know. I wasn't trying to screw anyone over, at the time I simply had no idea that there would be any kind of delay in when the package would be metered, picked-up, and delivered. Normally, this happens within a time frame of a few hours from the moment I drop things off in our mail room. On this occasion, things did not go according to plan and greater forces prevailed. Again, I wasn't trying to screw anyone over. As the consecutive blizzards rolled in I just honestly, honestly wasn't thinking about the mail I had left at the office on 2/5.
