About Me

I am 63, female, and I am in the mountains of Southern California, where it snows. I have 3 cats and 1 dog, a husband and adult son (still at home). I LOVE swap-bot and enjoy getting mail...anything other than bills!

I really want to learn more about pocket letters! I have been watching tutorials and it looks like so much fun! I am going to start collecting tiny things that can be tucked inside pockets.

I enjoy cooking, mexican and italian food being my favourites. ALLERGY ALERT I AM ALLERGIC TO NUTS AND SEAFOOD! This has been a real pain, as I developed these allergies later in life!

I like to crochet, am a begining knitter, and like looking at pattern books. I like knitting and crocheting dishcloths, and love all cotton yarn. Varigated colours are my favourites.

My home decor tends to be on the cottage style side, and I love anything flea market style. . I love old things that have a repurpose in life, however, I do not like junk.

I shop regularly at places like Home Goods, The Doves Nest Thrift Store, and the local yarn store. I like fiddling with crafty things, and I love kits.

I am not a really picky person, and whatever someone can afford to share with me I can appreciate. I know that sometimes it is difficult to please all the people all the time, but I will always try my best to make a swap worth swapping for.

BOOKS

All fiction and non-fiction are enjoyed, but NOT Sports related, history or ROMANCE (blech!) :) I have 2 Kindles, and regularly download free books on Kindle Buffet/Weber Books. I also have a lot of hardcover and paperbacks, because, well, it is nice to hold a paper book in your hand sometimes!

Likes

Books, hand made paper, color: muted medium green, old sheet music, rick rac, vintage & antique stores, tacos, tamales, carnitas, Starbucks, goldfish, cats, dogs, the driving hamster car commercial :), knit, crochet & paper crafts, guavas and pomegranites, buttons, epherma and so much more!

Dislike

Gum, teabags, peppermint, nuts and shellfish (allergic!), kelly green, comic books, cooked carrots!

I think I may have passed out from amazing! YOU ARE THE BOMB. After I opened the little one i was already excited, cuz you know, pens. But then, THE JOURNAL. It is beautiful, gorgeous, eye catching, perfect, lovingly made and breathtaking. I wish I could rate you for it! A million hearts to you. I loved all the pages...I abhor Hello Kitty too so that made me laugh at the ugly page. I think the spiral page was my favorite, it was so perfectly done, I can never write in spirals well. And I learned a few techniques that I hadn't thought of when discovering all the delightful secret flaps and so forth. Oh what a joy to receive. This was waaaaaaaay better than my first journal, and I thought it was pretty good at the time. Seriously thank you so much, I would love to do a private swap with you sometime, I love to swap with people who actually CARE about what they send, they are few and far between on this site. Thankfully I have found quite a few over the years :) And you are the newest to the list of lovely ladies. I'm am now going to go admire it again...

Hi...I read your post in the PFs wondering if drama happens often on SB. More often than not Questionable Swappers are not even mentioned in the PFs unless it is drastic. They are discussed in the Flakers Group. If it is extreme like Hartline, then yes it is posted as a warning to others. I was flaked on twice since being here and mine was completely handled with int the group...So relax...enjoy SB. Most of the time it is a wonderful place with wonderful people.

3 saving tips (and more) by Petitpaindepice:

1) A basic and easy one : pay cash ! it helps you to realise how money can be spent fast.

2) Sign up for rewards cards or member cards from supermarkets because it will make you save a lot of money, also watch coupons !!!

3) Beware of the promotional advertisements like "3 for 2" or "buy 3 get 4th free" because it will simply get you to spend more. If you need one mascara, then buy 1 only, not 2 or 3 to get some freebies.

4) Buy family size or Big sizes for stuffs you use everyday like cereals, shampoo, detergent. Because you will always use it ! Even for fresh products if you can keep it in the freezer.

5) Try to reduce your expenses by cutting costs where you generally wont think about, like napkins/paper towels (you can replace it by using a sponge)

6) Take care of your stuffs !!! they will last longer and you wont have to buy a new one.

7) Find useful swaps and trades to do on the internet. for example you can trade make up on certain websites for the ones you dont use. Recycle gifts by re-gifting or selling it on ebay when the ebay costs are the lowest (usually not during big events like christmas, easter, halloween)

well, that was my tips, I hope you will find them useful ;)

I'm your partner for "help your partners save money profile swap" My 3 ideas are...

When possible, bring your own coffee/lunch/etc. I used to get a coffee every day on my way to work, and I realized that I can save almost $25/week by making coffee either at home, or at work, instead of going to Dunkin Donuts. You can also save money by bringing left overs or sandwiches to work, rather than having to buy lunch daily.

Never give exact change when buying something. If something costs $3.03, give $4, and put the 97 cents in a jar. At the end of the month, look at all the money that added up!

Don't be afraid of thrift stores! I've gotten so many great crafting supplies at my local thrift store. And before I started swapping, I saved tons of money by going there for electronics, books, etc!

Good luck saving some money!

Help Your Partners Save Money Swap:

Turn off lights and unplug appliances and chargers (such as phone chargers) when not in use to save $ on electricity bill.

Use cash instead of a debit or credit card. Not only does it make it easier to keep track of how much you're spending, but you'll save on interest rates and bank fees.

At the end of each day, put your change into some kind of container. You'll be very surprised after a few months or a year when you cash it in. One time I got almost $350!

Plan to get as many errands done on one trip as possible to save $ on gas.
