I am a HUGE cat lover. My indoor kitties are Earl (gray shorthair) and Blackberry (black with yellow-green eyes) -- they are both rescue kitties and I love them to bits!

I teach plant biology at a university in South Carolina. My hobbies include travel, reading, gardening, knitting, sewing, cross stitch and papercrafts.

I have been lucky enough to visit many wonderful places: Europe, Kenya, Mexico, and others. But there are so many more places I would love to see!

This summer, my husband and I are planning to hike from one side of England to the other along Hadrian's Wall - that's been a dream of mine for a long time.

I believe that tolerance and kindness are the most important virtues. The world is an endlessly amazing place because of diversity in all its forms.

Papercrafts - I like making cards best, but I also scrapbook when I remember to take some photos!

My scrapbooks and cards are usually either (1) really clean and simple or (2) old-fashioned and collage-y. I recently started a smash book with lots of washi tape and office-themed papers - that's been fun too.

Sewing - right now I am on a quest to develop the perfect pants pattern that actually fits me.

Knitting - I'm learning to knit two socks on one needle.
