Hi! I'm Laura, a writer currently living in San Diego. Here's the official bio:

Laura Roberts can leg-press an average-sized sumo wrestler, has written an entire novel in just three days, and is the San Diego Writers/Editors Guild’s Newsletter Editor. She is also the founding editor of Black Heart Magazine, offers affordable editing services for authors, and publishes books that press buttons at Buttontapper Press. She currently lives in an Apocalypse-proof bunker in sunny SoCal with her artist husband and their literary kitties, and can be found on Twitter @originaloflaura

I'm mainly here to swap postcards and other types of mail art, because I am a total nerd. I love typewriters, books, cats, chocolate, wine, and such nerdy shows of yesteryear as Futurama. For my day job, I transcribe reality TV, so I do my best to watch absolutely NO reality TV in my down-time. ;D

I'm also currently working on a book about careers called World's Coolest Jobs. If you've got a job that you think qualifies (or know someone who does), I've put up a short self-interview page on my website, worldscoolestjobs.com, and would love to hear from you! I'll even send you a copy of the book when it comes out.

FAVORITE MOVIES I have pretty eclectic tastes in movies, but I love old noir films (particularly any starring Bogey and Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, or Hedy Lamarr) for their femme fatales and snappy dialogue, and modern films for a variety of reasons. I enjoy foreign films in French and Spanish the most (Amélie, anything by Pedro Almodóvar, weird French-language Quebec flicks like Maelström and Les Invasions Barbares), and British or American comedies. I'm a fan of Wes Anderson's movies, as well as smart kids' movies like Big Hero 6, Despicable Me (1 & 2), and Home. I love odd films, like The Addams Family flicks with Angelica Huston and Raul Julia. I will watch any ridiculous time-travel movie at least once. I love the awful sexism of old James Bond flicks, I love terrible action flicks starring The Rock or Mark Wahlberg or Jason Statham (eye candy, what can I say?). I love a good villain, and a quirky good guy or gal. I love Fight Club, and prefer the remake of The Italian Job to the original (sorry, Michael Caine!). I love the idea of remaking pretty much anything with an all-female cast (new Ghostbusters is just as funny as the original, fight me), and strong female characters. I have also laughed at something as truly stupid as Hot Tub Time Machine... 2. So, my tastes are varied, and if you think I might like it, let me know! :)
