October 1, 2018: After being kindly reminded of this profile I had forgotten about, I contacted the recipient of the swap I never sent. A lot of sh*t happened in 2012 and following years - not going into detail, but there were multiple surgeries, depression, family issues, and in too of all that uni stuff. I disappeared because I was just trying to stay alive literally and I forgot about this site. As I was a lot of things from my past. I would be happy if at one point the past can stay in the past and I'll be able to bury this time and everything that happened somewhere very deep...
My name's Katharina, I'm in my 20s and currently study languages at university. I've always been ineterested in different languages, cultures and customs. I love to learn new stuff and can usually remember the oddest things. ^^
I'm also usually cheerful and have an obsession with calendars and collect postcards, stamps and other little souvenirs from trips I take. I also love to take pictures (nearly) everywhere I go and usually end up with way too many. ^^
My hamster and cat prove to be very good photo material. :D
I really enjoy listening to different kinds. I'm just really random when it comes to music. I'm happy with whatever suits my mood in that situation.
So I love to listen to Nightwish as much as to Celtic Woman or musicals such as Cats or Sweeney Todd.
And I'm normally very bad with remembering a singer or a title. So I'm always like: "That's a nice song. What's it called?" ^^
I also play the recorder and tenor flute. Sadly, I don't have as much time as I'd like to and don't want to constantly annoy my roommates. ;)
I love to read fantasy mostly or other fictional works. I'm normally not a big fan of non-fiction books, but there have been exceptions. ;)
My favourite books include, but are not limeted to: Harry Potter, P.S. I Love You, the Outlander series, works by Terry Pratchett and many many more.
There are so many, I can't list them all here and as with songs I tend to forget the titles or that I have watched them at all...
But the most recent ones I've seen are: Intouchables and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and I've loved them both. Completely different, but both so awesome!! :) As a child I have loved watching Disney movies and still do. :)
There are a couple shows I enjoy watching such as: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Bones, Castle, Lie to Me and NCIS. I also enjoyed the CSI shows, but have stopped watching them for one reason or another.
And I don't have so much time either and don't want to spend my whole free time watching TV. ;)
I have enjoyed crafting class in elementary school immensely and still continue to like crafting when I feel creative.
I most enjoy sewing and knitting (although I'm not a very proficient knitter). And sometimes I make collages, but that's a really rare occasion.
Recently I discovered zentangling. It's great fun! :D
I love written and stamped postcards. Adds to charme of the card - imho that is. ;) I really enjoy learning about different places through postcards. So my all-time favourite type of those are touristy cards. Viewcards depicting your area/state/region/country with the name of the place somewhere on them. I enjoy multiviews and singleviews alike.
I also like cards with funny or cute animals (no insects, spiders or beetles, please), flowers, cute animals (I absolutely adore pandas, hamsters, squirrels, koalas, polar bears, hippos, wombats, manatees and red pandas) or candy.
I don't really like cards with people or inside views of buildings/rooms.
I also set myself a challenge to collect a viewcard from every state of the USA. I have collected 47 so far + a card from D.C.. :)
Here's a list of the states I already have: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY
And here are the states I still need: DE, ID, MT
I love nearly all kinds of sweets and chocolate. ^^
I like nice writing paper, stickers and other decorations.
I love tea and am always open to try new kinds. My most favourite kinds are mint and everything fruity or fruity/wintery around Christmas time and a little crazy. (I loved raspberry - chili, but I can't get it anywhere anymore. :( Must have been the only one to like it... )
I also enjoy lighting candles, especially scented ones. I prefer natural scents like mint or lemon.
I don't like chocolate or other sweets with alcohol or coconut. And I don't like chocolate with marzipan either.
I can't stand chamomile tea. But my mom loves it. ;)
I don't really like candles with flowery or really strong or artificial scents like vanilla. I will get a headache from those.
And I'm allergic to witch hazel (but that shouldn't really be a problem I hope).
I have really bad arachnophobia. So, please don't send anything with spiders. Cobwebs without any animals are fine, but please no pictures, drawings, cartoons, photographs or anything else with spiders. I will scream and my blood pressure will skyrocket which is not very nice or funny at all. Thank you for understanding that.
I will always send the promised items. If you don't receive anything after waiting a reasonable amount of time (s. below) it has gotten lost (sadly mail sometimes wonders into unknown places). Please in this case do contact me before rating and I will re-send asap.
Also please notice mail from Germany can take a little or not so little amount of time to reach you depending on where you live. Inside Europe mail usually takes about 1 week or less (except for countries like Belarus with a slow postal service). Mail to the US normally takes about 1-2 weeks, to Australia and Canada 2-3 weeks and to places like Russia and China it can take up to 1 month or even longer to arrive. So, please be aware of mailing times!
Thank you!!

Hello there!Hope your summer months have been pleasant! =) I sent a little present to you mailbox so keep an eye out for it! Though it probably still takes at least a week to where you are haha
Scotland sounds awesome! Will you go see the castles and such? or spend more time in the cities? Unfortunately we're having a heat wave here (typical) it will be in the 90s for most of the week across most of the east coast. Just did the conversion, so it would be about 32 Celsius and higher by your measurements. My family and I are celebrating the fourth of july this weekend/week by going to the beach. Can't wait!
That's cool, you're lucky you're in Europe! It seems like travelling is so much easier!. I've really only been to paris and london. And only the east coast of the USA since my family doesn't like to travel too much. Ew the weather sounds awful. Here it's nearly the same except the sun is out and it is not going to storm for at least a couple days. Boo ~Allison
Thanks! I need all the luck I can get! Well I live near DC so theres alot of different jobs I could get. I could be an interior designer with a big firm and do commercial (stores, restaurants), hospitality (hotels, hospitals, nursing facilities) government (embassies, government buildings in the states and overseas) or Residential (houses apartments) Right Now I'm working in a kitchen design showroom just working the desk every once and a while and I'm hoping I get a job with a fancy furniture store nearby (as a starting off point) I didn't even notice that English was anything but your first language! Its awesome! My french is pretty awful, but I managed when I was in Paris. I was only there for a week (during spring break this year in march) for a class on religious minorities. So we got to see/experience things that many other tourists are not exposed to. I had been to Paris before when I was in highschool on a short trip and I was determined to go back because I missed alot of the major things I wanted to see. I have to go back at least one more time since both times I've been on the Eiffel tower it has been miserable and rainy. Beautiful day today! Not too hot either. And no storms anywhere near! too bad I'm stuck at work all day haha ~Allison
Hi, this is for the "Profile Fun! ♥ Inspirational Quote ♥" swap. An quote that inspires me is "You can keep going long after you can't." It sounds glib at first but when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Humans have a lot more stamina than they think they do. I have it on my fridge to remind me to keep at it even when I think I can't take it any more!
Another quote that has personal meaning for me is, "There will come a time when you think everything is finished. That will be the beginning." This really helped me a lot during a particular period in my life.
Hi Katharina! Yep interior design can be pretty creative sometimes, I'm trying to find a job with my new degree so its a bit rough at the moment. What languages are you studying? Sometimes I randomly decide to pick up new languages as the area I live in is pretty diverse. So far I've taught myself some korean (mostly how to read it) and French (for studying abroad) but I'm no where near fluent. I also took spanish in school so its fun to "eavesdrop" to practice learning. Hope its a pretty day in Germany! Its cloudy where I am! ~Allison
Hello! "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams" Henry David Thoreau
"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail." Ralph Waldo Emerson
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein
Have a great day! =) (also its cool you're studying languages!)
Inspirational quote:
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." -Helen Keller
And two quotes that just always make me giggle:
Homo sapiens who dwell in crystalline domiciles should refrain from hurling geometrically-shaped projectiles.
A spasmodic movement of optic is as adequate in each and every respect to an inclination of the cranium to an equine quadruped devoid of its visionary powers.
Have a spiffy day!
Here is your "inspirational quote." I hope it finds you well and filled with happiness! Happy Swapping!
There are two ways of meeting difficulties: you alter the difficulties, or you alter yourself to meet them. - Phyllis Battome

Hi Antimi,
Here is an inspirational quote for you :)
“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” ~ Ella Fitzgerald ~
I Like this quote because like art, no matter what you do, it is still art, and as long as you are trying.. you succeed ;) Have a great day!!!
