About Me

I've always described myself by what I do, and since I don't do anything right now, I'm at a loss for words. So let's see, I'm in my late 20s. married. no children. but I have a lovely miniature beagle named Sharkdog. I grew up in Texas and moved to Oklahoma for school. Somehow, I ended up in Vienna, Austria (only recently) and am making my home here.

I enjoy baking -- especially for other people. I love to try new recipes and don't mind spending hours in the kitchen.

I like socks. Maybe that's strange, but a few years ago I got tired of all of my white socks and started stocking up on colorful pairs. My favorites are the pairs I received from a friend in Germany whose grandmother knit for me. (Technically, I think she knit them for my friend's sister, but he got them first!)

I also love dishes. My favorites are Polish pottery, but anything colorful will do. When I was younger, we always ate off plastic tupperware plates. At least, that's what I remember. Now that I'm older, I try to avoid plastic whenever possible.

Favorite Music

Here's a list of some of the musicians/bands that I'm listening to these days: U2, Bob Dylan, Death Cab for Cutie, Cake, White Stripes, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Jim Morrison, Violent Femmes. I like folk music -- anything with a harmonica calls me -- I don't own any besides Bob Dylan. I like that song on the GE wind power commericals -- Try to Catch the Wind.

Favorite Movies

Little Miss Sunshine; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Almost Famous; just about anything I've seen by Focus Features

Favorite Crafts

I love paper. I used to think that was weird, but then I ran into all the crafty people out here! I like the idea of scrapbooking and card-making, but I haven't really gotten into actually doing it. Maybe because I don't have photos or the supplies. :)

My favorite craft is making books -- coptic stitch and ribbon-hinged. I have a whole stack of paper and cardboard just waiting for me. Now if I can just find the glue...

I learned to sew when I was younger and would really like to pick that up again. I'd also like to learn to knit. Some much to learn, so little time!

Address

In case you're not familiar with European addresses, here's how to write it:

[Name] [Street Name] [Street Number] (i.e., Address 1) [Zip Code] [City] [Country]

I recommend adding "Europe" after the country name because apparently sometimes mail addressed for "Austria" ends up in "Australia".
