Hello, new swapping friends! Welcome to my little corner of swapbot. I'm not clever enough to make pretty profiles like many of you all, but hopefully, this will give you a little picture of who's behind the username.
I'm an Alaska Grown country gal living on the edge of urban life in South East USA. I dreamed of acres of space and used to sing "Don't fence me in" at the top of my lungs as a little girl. But here I am- neighbors on all sides and a little slice of space in between. I will never stop missing the forest and the quiet, but this is home for now and I am grateful.
I am in my mid/late 30s, happily married for double digits to my long-time best friend. He sometimes drives me bonkers with procrastinating, but he is a keeper and I can't imagine how bland life would be if he hadn't tumbled into mine! We have two ginger-haired fairies as children who have completely captured our hearts from the moment we knew that they were there. My family is my life's biggest adventure yet, and my everything.
I am an INFJ, if you are familiar with myers-briggs personality typing. Basically, I'm an introvert who seems serious but has a quirky inner personality and who probably understands you better than you might think. I'm pretty empathetic and making people feel seen and understood is important to me. My favorite thing is giving people a gift, or token that makes them smile. According to the sorting hat, I am a hufflepuff.
I work from home doing admin work, team management, and social media for small businesses, bloggers, and authors. Working from home has been my goal since I was a child, and I'm honored that I got to do it for so long! Currently taking a break while my kids are young and I'm homeschooling. (I'm also a homeschool alum!) I want to give them as many opportunities and learning experiences as I can, and that's hard to do working 50 hrs a week like I was!
In other random, probably not important but maybe amusing details:
I am a bit whimsical at heart. My style is somewhere between simple classic and whimsical fairy/hippy.
I can't dance for the life of me. But I'm never too old to twirl in the grass or dance in the creek with my kiddos.
If you can't find me, I'm probably barefoot wandering around the garden or looking at interesting things somewhere around my little yard. Who needs shoes??
I love rustic camping at the ocean with my family, hiking near a mountain stream, seeing the world from a quiet spot where I can hang up a hammock and read a book. I grew up canoeing and hope to take my kids on canoe adventures one day soon.
I love anything magical, whimsical, fairytale, nature-themed, or simply pretty. I'm not hard to please. If it's thoughtful, I love it.
I'm not a huge fangirl of any particular person or thing. I adore fairytales. I love Alton Brown because he doesn't just give you a recipe, he tells you why it's good...and it usually is!
I am a fan of good chocolate, good tea, boba, all the seeds, pretty stickers and anything beautiful.
Speaking of tea, I love black tea blends, green tea with fruit or citrus and I'll try almost anything once. I don't really care for strong pouchang or overly herbal flavors.
You can't get enough of good tea or good books. I read a lot of clean fantasy, fairytale retellings, and historical fiction. But I'll read anything clean that is well recommended.
I'm currently reading: Autumn Fairy Trilogy by Brittany Flitcher.
Reading Goal for 2022: 6/120
I'm not a great crafter, artist, or talented in any particular way. But, it's not about being perfect, but about doing something you enjoy, right?
Mostly, I sketch a little.
I like to try to pick things from my swap partner's profiles that they like or that remind me of what they're interested in or their username in some way. If you get a sketch from me, I probably looked at a bunch of ideas and combined them to create my own take on something that I thought you'd love.
I like to do paper crafts sometimes. Forms of Origami, Pocket Letters, pop-out cards. Anything that's not too complicated and looks pretty.
I've been growing things since I was 4 years old, and I've always had a strong connection to gardening and the magic of planting a seed and nurturing it to fruition.
I live in 7b, and I absolutely love that I can grow things year-round!
Some of my favorites are:
Finding new kinds of Zinnia to try. They are magical flowers that never stop blooming all season long, aren't fussy and my pollinators love them!
I'm a little addicted to basil and would love to grow every kind. I really love herbs in general and dream of having an established herb garden by my back door.
Peppers and tomatoes come in so many varieties and it delights me to try a new one or two each year.
I love trying new things and I love preserving my harvest as best i can.
