About Me

Hi. Thank you for looking at my profile.

I joined swapbot to swap postcards and photos.

I love my postcard collection and want to expand it. Everywhere I go I look for postcards. I'm happy with naked cards and sent in envelope. My favorite cards include those from museums, non-tourist, weird-ish, handmade and nature. I hope to find more types of favorite postcards soon.

I hope to find favorite photo swaps soon too. I hope to get the photos printed then swapped, not emailed.

About Me

I love winter. I appreciate the cold and dark of the season. I live in Minnesota where winter is wonderful.

I'm a mom to four. My motherly interests include homebirth, breastfeeding, intactivism and building relationships with my kids that are based on mutual respect.

Lake Superior is a great place to be in nature. Camping is a lot of fun.

I collect stickers and agates. I collect interesting rocks. I collect tiny animal toys. I collect scarves - favorite is hand rolled, silk, square scarves.

I knit, but don't have as much time for knitting as I'd like.

I support/❤ my union.

I wish I was a better artist. One of my favorite artists is Banksy.

Comment: It looks like this postcard was chewed up and spit out by a nasty looking machine. lol. I still have your note on there at least, and most of the owl. Thank you for the postcard! I love my job, most of it at least. The customers can be a challenge, but that comes with the retail aspect. I've thought about going to Pharmacy school or switching to a hospital. But I love the people I work with too much to leave currently. But I still have no idea what I want to grow up to be, lol.

Comment: Shannon, I LUV the quirky "horse head" PC you sent! Surely a fav now my collection. Thanks so much. Moss? It seems to transplant well IF IF the ground is scratched prior to planting, IF IF it's kept very moist/wet until it takes hold, and planted in semi-shaded areas...no hot sun. I even grow it indoors in interesting dishes near windows, and spray/saturate it with water, then tip it over to drain. TMI ...many websites for more tips. Happy Spring, happy "mossing." Hugs....jinanne
Response: Wow! Moss in dishes. I have a bunch of houseplants and will try moss this summer. Totally not TMI, thank you so mush for sharing! I'm glad you liked the card - I joined that swap just to be able to send it to someone!

Comment: Wow, thank you so much! What a tough one to crack. I tried it with two dictionaries, but your language seems to inflect A LOT, so the dictionaries were not much help. I got about as far as this: "Hello. My name is Shannon. My clan (?) is Mukwa (= I am from Mukwa?). I live in Minneapolis (or something to do with a waterfall?)." The long sentence was too much for me :D "Niwii-naa (I will?) dazina'igane (go get the mail?) imaa (there?) mazina'iganiiwigamigong (at the post office?). You totally lost me at "Miin-aan baash Kimini-sij-igan bitooyin sij-igan-i bukwayszhiigan." And then it's "Thank you for everything?" Anyhow, thank you for the challenge and I would love to know how far off I was with this translation. :)
Response: Hi! Ojibwe wasn't a written language until pretty recently, so I've seen lots of different ways of writing things out. You are mostly right on! Gakaabikaang is a word that means at the waterfall. Here's a link to more Ojibwe place names: https://decolonialatlas.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/the-great-lakes-in-ojibwe-v2/ The long phrase is just one English word: blueberry pie. It's the longest word in Ojibwe.

Comment: Hello! Shannon! Thank you so much for wonderful Native American girl postcard! :) I didn't expect that I can get the "Ojibwe" language! X) really nice! I tried to read it with google, but I couldn't translate it. I just read it "Aaniin->Hello" Can you tell me about the texts that you wrote for me? Thank you :)
Response: I'm glad you liked the postcard and the surprise Native language. I was glad to be accepted into the swap. Google doesn't have a translator for most Native American Languages. The translation includes ~ I'm Shannon and I'm from Minneapolis. I'm going to the post office later. [and then the longest word in Ojibwe:] Blueberry pie. Be thankful for everything ~

Hi there, welcome to Swap-Bot! A tip: you're going to need to fill out your profile quite a bit more if you want to get in swaps. I sent you an invitation to the Newbie Helpers group, where there's a thread on filling out profiles. It might help you get some ideas on what other things you'll want to include. Happy swapping!
