** Special Note ** I will be away from Mid Feb to Mid March and not have ready access to a computer. I will not be able to answer messages until I get back so please be patient if you have an issue with one of my swaps. I am looking forward to a wonderful vacation. **
I will always mail my swaps so if there is an issue, please let me know before you rate. I will always make up what was lost in our postal system. I will always rate so if one does not appear on your profile, please email me. It will only mean that life got in the way and the rating process slipped through the cracks.. I go floor curling twice a week and lawn bowling as often as I can for fun & exercise. I especially like to participate in the bonspiels and tourneys for the challenge and the pleasure of meeting new people. I look after my 4 year old grandson Mon to Fri while Mom and Dad work. I have 11 grandchildren. My husband owns a used bookstore that is a great meeting place for all his old navy buddies. We have 3 miniature poodles that are very spoiled. I have bred them and enjoy the wee puppies although it is heartbreaking to see them off to their new homes. Our vacation of choice is cruising and we usually travel with my sister and her hubby. We also like to spend time at our property near the lake. The property is jointly owned with my sister and her family. I have no food allergies.
I like most music except rap and hard rock. I usually listen to a country station so I guess that is my most favourite music. I do like a lot of the old Rock and Roll and soft Rock as well. I have some Celtic CD's that I love to listen to. I also love the bagpipes.
I read most types of books except true crime and horror. I usually read historical romance, romantic suspense, mystery and love it if they have a bit of comedy as well. Janet Evanovich is a favourite for mystery with a good laugh. I don't usually ready SciFi/Fantasy but there are some good authors in that genre that have written some fun time travel books.
There are a lot of wonderful movies making it hard to pick favourites. I guess on the favourite list would be Gone With the Wind and any with Julie Andrews, Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. I like most old movies where the success of the movie was more dependent on acting ability than special effects.
My favourite television shows are the British comedies and Masterpiece theatre productions. I also watch CSI, CSI:NY, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Medium, Trauma, Castle, Bridge, House, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Criminal Minds, Private Practice, The Good Wife, The Mentalist, Two and a Half Men, Cold Case, In Plain Sight, Amazing Race, American Idol and America's Got Talent. Thank goodness for being able to record them and watch without commercials on my own time but I am behind in watching by weeks. It's a good thing that summer is mostly reruns. .
My favourite crafts right now are quilting and Chinese Brush Painting because that is all that I seem to find time for. I started quilting a year ago and love it. Chinese Brush Painting was only started in January and I like it very much as well. I have started watercolour lessons this fall and am doing ok with it. The quilting, Chinese Brush and Watercolour lessons are all taken at the Senior's Centre. I do like other crafts and love to try anything new. I like to make my own cards and especially like the effect of Iris Folding. I have done some scrapbooking, jewelry making, crocheting, counted cross stitch and knitting. I hope to try stained glass one day.
I don't have any strong likes or dislikes in quilting fabrics and colours. There are so many wonderful fabrics out there that I hate to limit what I might receive. I like to donate baby quilts to the Special Care Nursery (NICU & Pediatrics) at the hospital so children's prints are great. I will be making scrappy lap quilts to donate to a senior's extended care facility so am always looking for strings or scraps of fabric. They tease me at quilting class when I root in the fabric trash for bits. My favourite colour is blue but I also like all the colours of the rainbow, bright and pastels and everything in between. I like my quilt blocks to be pleasing to the eye. They can be bright but not harsh or clashing.
I collect too many things but my favourite collectables are:
* Things made in Occupied Japan
* Kinder Surprise toys, especially the hand painted solids, character pieces and metal figures
* Carnival Glass
* Floaty pens
I started to keep a list of flakers and non-raters and then I read on one of the public forums that the author didn't keep a list because she didn't want to be reminded of the very few people that didn't play by the rules. She was right!! There are way too many awesome swappers on here to only accent the negative. I was then going to keep a list of swappers that absolutely rocked my world when I opened their package but I would be too afraid to forget someone. So, instead -- many, many hearts to those who have sent amazing swaps to my mailbox and shame on those who have flaked either by not sending or not rating! I will remember all the wonderful swaps & swappers and choose to forget the bad ones and not immortalize their rudeness in a list! .

Your package and profile show you are a truly loving, kind and giving person and a swap partner I'm sure everyone would love to have. Thank you again!
Thank you so much for the card. That was very kind of you.
Hi Sharon. Popping in to thank you for the wonderful CQ WTA #12 envie I received from you today. I think I was confused about something someone else sent to me. And, I probably confused you, too. Oh well - I loved all the stuff you sent and it will def be used (I can always use recipe cards and I liked the recipe on the back of the one! Did you read the thread on green tomatoes??) . The ME Scottie notecard was especially cute as I have always wanted a scottie and my son's name is Scott. So thanks and have a good season of curling!
Welcome to the group!
