Sir Gray was a University Professor, economist, writer, and poet but is probably most well known for his numerous translations of Danish and German poetry into Scots. This quote is etched in stone in the Canongate Wall of the beautiful Scottish Parliament building in Holyrood, an area of the capital city, Edinburgh.

Hi Megan, I am proud of my Scottish ancestry. Our Gordon name has been traced back to the town of Gordon in Berwickshire. When I found this out, I was somewhat taken aback, in that I was raised from infancy in the town of Berwick in Maine, and my father had the same name as Richard of Gordon, the first Lord of the Barony of Gordon. These were, as far as I could ever ascertain, complete coincidences. Best Wishes, Neal
