As long as the ink is permanent it should work. Transfers were the first thing I thought of when I saw the stamped images so I'm going to try tomorrow and see how it works :)
I do the same thing now with papers - except I mostly collect magazines at the used book stores (still a lot cheaper than pretty papers at the store). Even boring pages turn out to make interesting pieces once you start cutting and ripping them up.
