About Me

I’ve been a reader all my life, a knitter (and crocheter) on and off for over 40 years, and a lover of cats and gardens. I’m a seriously addicted collector of books, yarn and knitting patterns. My DH calls me “the Imelda Marcos” of tote bags, most of which I use to hold knitting projects. I joined Ravelry, the network for knitters and crocheters, in 2007 and thereby have found many wonderful friends, in real life and online only.

At present we are owned by George and Gracie, partly-Siamese tabby-point rescues who are deeply bonded 4yo sibs. Alex, a dark-brown tabby with huge amber-green eyes, has recently joined us; he spent most of his first year in a very nice rescue shelter with lots of other cats, so he is learning how to be around people.

Favorite Music

I listen to a wide range of music, from Josh Groban to Loreena McKennitt, Coldplay to Faith Hill, John Barrowman to Gordon Lightfoot.

Favorite Books

I read constantly and listen to audiobooks when my hands are busy. I love sci-fi and fantasy, mysteries, historical fiction, and some current fiction and biography. My favorite authors include Dick Francis, Ellis Peters, J. A. Jance, Lois McMaster Bujold, Anne McCaffrey, Patricia Briggs, Kelley Armstrong, Alison Weir, Nora Roberts and her alter ego J. D. Robb.

Among the best books I've read in the last year are The Help, The Guernsey Literary and Potato-Peel Pie Society, A Discovery of Witches, and The Doomsday Book.

Favorite Television

Bones, NCIS-LA, Blue Bloods, White Collar, Leverage, Royal Pains, Eureka, Sanctuary, Doctor Who, Masterpiece Mystery

Other Interests

*Fountain pens, ink and stationery, including creating my own postcards and mailing labels; I joined Fountain Pen Network in 2011

*Gardens - old-fashioned and heritage roses, lavenders, mints, herbs

Please - I am very sensitive to scents, so do not send anything from a smoking environment or that is strongly scented.

Comment: Love the Winslow Homer "Two Girls Looking at a Book" postcard that you sent! It reminded me of my 5th graders back when I was teaching! Great snail mail rubber stamp & I will write ... soon, just as that adorable postage stamp and your note suggest!-)
