"Every spirit makes its house, and we can give a shrewd guess from the house to the inhabitant." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson Many cultures throughout the world build miniature structures known as spirit houses to celebrate their connection to their ancestors, to their own dreams and desires, or to elements of the natural world. Artists can bring the practice of building spirit houses closer to home by creating their own miniature dwellings for dreams, ideas, hopes, desires, and other flights of fancy. The Details: Create a small accordion book (finished dimensions 2.5" wide x 4" tall) in the shape of a simple house. The book should have at least 6 panels to art up in any style that expresses your creative spirit. You can decorate for your partner based on information in her or his profile or simply let your own muse be your guide. Hearts if you decorate both the front and back sides of all the panels. Participants should have at least a 4.5 rating. Newbies must PM me first. This swap is International.

I love the idea of this swap, I just couldn't pass it up, it's going to be a tight squeeze time wise, but I'm sure I'll be able to fit it in....where's a good blizzard when you need one? LOL

Hee-hee! I know how you feel. I find myself wishing for loust weather on weekends so I can just stay in my studio and make art.

I've got mine pretty well planed out, I just have to get home to my studio so I can work on it! I think this may be the longest I've gone without crafting....well, I brought my zentangle atcs to work on while I'm here, but I finished them, and the envies too! Some serious withdrawl going on here LOL

Perhaps not coincidentally, I got Angela Cartwright & Sarah Fishburn's wonderful book "In This House" for Christmas, and I've been ooo-ing and ahh-ing over it for a week now. (My sweetie knows me really well & actually pays attention when I tell him what books I'd like to have.) Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this swap. Happy New Year, everyone.

I just uploaded a picture of one side of the spirit house made for my partner. . .the picture is WAY too big. I was going to do the other side but have no idea how to shrink it. Oh well, she'll just have to be surprised. . .smile
