Description: | |
a good bit of the swap description was copied from oreon's chunky page swap with permission. This swap is for 1 Chunky Book Page to 1 partner. This will be a series of 6 swaps. Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Spirit and the last one will be for a cover. Each page will be done in the theme of the swap, this one being Spirit. These are not partner specific, so you can start on them as soon as you want. For the page, you will interpret the Element of Spirit. The only requirement is that the pages be : 6 x 6 inches or 15.2 x 15.2 cm. All else is up to the artists interpretation. Please use heavy cardstock, glue a few pieces together if necessary this has to withstand embellishments and years of people turning the pages! You MUST affix your work onto heavy cardstock or cardboard. We have had some issues with this. If you DO NOT send your piece on heavy cardstock or cardboard your partner can and will rate you a 3. It is a requirement of this swap. For simplicity these will be bound on the left so leave an approx 1.5 inch (3.81 cm) margin free of thick/dimensional embellishment on the left hand side. Bulky items should be kept to the right. And nothing to interfere with where you partners punch holes will be. Do not punch them yourself this is for you partner to do. Some examples of binding could be ribbon, book rings, spiral coils etc The back of the page will be visible so although your art does not have to extend to the back please do something with it, whether its painting it black, a doodle or covering it in scrapbook paper, you should sign the back and put the title as well. Any medium welcome, paint, pencil, pen + ink, collage....but no sticker slapping and put some effort in you don't want to be the one page that ruins the rest of your partners book do you? I also really want to emphasize that although your page should be dimensional and "chunky" this doesn't necessarily mean you have to smother it in large embellishments, the main art work should be the focus and any embellishments should be there to enhance your work but not distract from it. You can make your page chunky by simply layering if you wish or stitching into the paper etc some other embellishment ideas are: eyelets, brads, fibres, lace, ribbon, charms, beads, buttons, tags, little envelopes with messages inside, little trinkets, glitter, puff paint etc etc. I know some people have been struggling with the chunky aspect of this so any questions please ask. I'm here to help :) Flickr is also a useful resource for ideas. Having at least 1 chunky/3 dimensional component on your chunky page is also a requirement. If you send a flat piece of paper to your partner they have the right, and responsibility, to rate you a 3. I may also ban you from future swaps I host. Please follow the guidelines in the swaps. It's no fun to make something that fulfills the requirements & receive a flat piece of paper that you have to reinforce and add embellishments to after you receive it. Embellishment ideas: eyelets, brads, fibres, lace, ribbon, charms, beads, buttons, tags, little envelopes with messages inside, little trinkets, glitter, puff paint etc etc So in summary.... 1.One 6 by 6inch page to 1 partner 2.The Theme this month: Fire 3.Bulky embellishment kept to the right. 4.Nothing to interfere with binding to the left. 5.Decorate the back and sign and title. 6.Heavy Cardstock (you can glue several pieces together) 7.Must have AT LEAST one chunky/3-d component You can start your page now as this is senders choice. It shouldn't cost too much to send internationally either. This swap is open to New Members....with one codicil: You must have a minimum of 5 non-email swaps already completed & rated. ok so 99% of the swap wording was copied. I hope oreon doesn't mind me swiping this much of it!!! |
