A Day In The Life
Swap Coordinator:littlebluestar (contact)
Swap categories: Journals
Number of people in swap:16
Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Rating requirement:4.50
Last day to signup/drop:March 21, 2011
Date items must be sent by:April 4, 2011
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

You will need:

1 Notepad/Journal of your choice.

possibly 1 Folder or organizer of your choice.

For this swap you will collect journal entries or notes, bits, baubles, empherma and whatnots from an average (or not so average) day in your life, then you will package it all up (however you like - you have creative control here), and send to your partner - who will be eagerly awaiting a glimpse into your world.

You will start your day with your notepad in hand. As your day takes you where it will, collect the bits left behind as well as items that represent where you have been. Use your notepad to record thoughts, insights or observations of the landscape and people around you. Be creative.

Here are some ideas to include with your notes or journal entries:

Ticket stubs

Receipts

Advertisemtents or postcards from places you visited

A mixed CD of the music you listen to on your way to work or while cleaning the house.

Notes from friends/kids/whoever, if you don't want to part with the original - make a copy.

The chocolate bar you enjoyed while waiting for the bus.. well not the actual chocolate bar of course! You could purchase a duplicate so you have one for your partner, or just tape the wrapper into your notepad. How was it? Was it a treat or a something you feel guilty about?

A coaster or mini menu from where you had lunch.

A brochure from the place you receive massage or bodywork, a small something from where you get your hair done. And how about a reveiw? "That massage was horrible, she had long nails and the talked the whole time!"

A small souvenier from somewhere you went

A journal entry about the argument you and your S.O. had, or your daughter or son or best friend...

Photos of your surroundings, or a specific place.

Please remember: This swap is the grand tour of your life and how you live it, make it as interesting and detailed as you are!
There are no size restrictions or minumin value set, you have creative control - so be creative!

Newbies are welcome - with a very well filled profile and 3 (snail)mail swaps under their belt, with good ratings by their partner. For everyone else: No recent 1s or 3s, 4.5 required.

Partners will be assigned the morning of Monday March 21st. You will have 2 weeks untill the Mail By date of April 4th. Pick any day between those dates. Please be prompt and mail on time.

DId I miss anything? I hope you all can have fun with this, if there are any questions please post below. Thanks!

As little as I like this rule, there is an official Swapbot rule banning mix CDs. It's so neither we nor the site get done for copyright infringement. A shame, because a mix CD is the quickest way to experience the flavour of someone's life. Maybe a list of songs?

Just giving you the heads up :)

hi, i would love to do this if it was a usa swap only. would you mind if i did a USA version of this swap?

KittyBoo 03/11/2011 #

Such a great idea for a swap!

I'd love it if you set up a 'week in the life'. so you have more oppertunity to fill the journal. (my days arent very exciting)

littlebluestar 03/11/2011 #

@Unmutual - WHOOPS! this is copy and pasted from a swap I did 2 years ago, when we were swapping CDs without problem. Scratch that then. :)

@Faye411 - go for it!

@KittyBoo - The original 2 years ago was in fact 'a week in the life of'! It got dramatic with the swappers and I am just getting back into swapping so I wanted to take it easy with just a quick day. If you want to do a week I am sure your partner will not mind!! If not then I'm sure I will be doing a week version sometime or feel free to host a week swap for yourself sooner :)

I would rather do a week than a single day as well, seeing as it would be hard to fill up a notebook with, say, eighty pages in it. I just got a really cute notebook today that I want to use for this, so I hope my partner doesn't mind that I'm going to do it for about a week. :)

littlebluestar 03/11/2011 #

Oh you don't have to FILL the notebook, you could just as well staple a few pages together, that is one part I didn't change from the original swap, glad you mentioned it!

Thats awesome that you are doing a week! I welcome anyone to do that, the requirement is a day but a host loves to hear when someone wants to do more than is required! Wish I had this group my first time around - it was a mess. Had a few that decided half way through a week was just too hard ;) Happy for your enthusiasim! (sp)

I wish, wish, WISH I could participate...but I'm too new :(

I am so loving this idea! I would also be willing to do a week long swap as well. :)

TAnn 03/21/2011 #
