Description:

This swap is inspired by the song "My Favorite Things" from the movie The Sound of Music "Brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things!"

For this swap you will have 1 partner. You will send your partner 3-5 of their favorite things based on their profile and individually wrap them all in brown paper and tie them each with string or ribbon.

It's so much fun to open a bunch of little things! This swap is international and you should spend around $8-$10 USD. One of the items may be a quality handcrafted item. Because of the cost of this swap, no newbies this time sorry! 4.8 requirement.

The final container (box or envelope) you end up mailing your little brown packages to your partner in must be wrapped in brown paper and string or ribbon as well. This ensures that your partner will find a lovely brown paper package tied up with string in their mailbox- perfection.

Paper grocery bags turned inside out would be perfect for this swap, they make great wrapping paper!

So the package itself isn't wrapped in brown paper just whatever is in the box? That is slightly disappointing ..for some reason

The package itself should be wrapped in brown paper too with string or ribbon! Oops, I will clarify that in the swap. Thanks!

Are we allowed to use a bit of tape too? Since this is international, I'm a bit concerned about things tearing or untying in the post. :c

This sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for thinking it up. I will be taping in addition to the twine/ribbon for the mailing box.

Glenn 03/ 7/2011 #

yes! Of course everyone make sure your package is securely taped shut in addition to applying the string or ribbon on the outside. Tape the ribbon on there if you can too, to ensure it doesn't slide off during shipping

When I went to the post office to mail my package the nice lady behind the desk let me know that you are not allowed to send packages with strings on them because they can jam up the machines. I don't know if anyone else had this problem but I had to mail my package without a string around it.

I need to send my package international vis USPSFlat Rate Priority. Today the postmaster would not let me send my box with just the brown wrapping. Anyone else have this issue?

craftyfairy 03/15/2011 #

yikes! i had to take my string off the outer box but the inner packages still have their string!

Glenn 03/16/2011 #

If it's priority I'm sure they'll have you slap on a few Priority stickers. If they require you to remove your brown paper entirely, please send your partner a message letting them know. If it's not your partners fault, please don't rate them down because of that.

I had the same problem with flat rate box :( they made me strip off the brown paper so depressing :(:(

I am fairly certain that I got flaked for this =(

i was allowed to leave the string on the package.. and i actually went a bit around the rules, so i didnt wrap my package in the brown paper.. i sticked it onto my envelope so that it actually looks like the brown package. :) And the strings.. i put some tape on them, so they dont fall off or make issues for the post.. i hope it arrives just the way i mailed it to my partner..
