Description:

Ok- I just had to steal the magic yarn ball swap idea and give it a new twist!

This swap is for spinners who's primary passion is spinning funky, unusual, wild and over the edge handspun art yarns.

As you all know, the idea is to wind up trinkets, treats and other cool stuff into a yarn ball and send it to your swap partner. For this swap we will be using our own unique handspun yarns. Try to include items that could potentially be spun into yarn along with sweets, cool stickers, charms, badges, buttons and other crafty little items. Use and stretch your imagination!

Since we all have different spinning styles please make sure that your yarn has enough yardage to be knit into at least a skinny scarf on large needles if its super bulky. Try and spin up around 60+ yards for this swap. If its a yard or two short don't worry- its all good!

I suggest you try and get to know your swap partner once they are assigned and tailor your handspun and goodies to make your magic yarn ball something they will flip for -ofcourse being the fiber fanatics that we are, it likely won't matter what the colors are if the texture and technique is something amazing.

i sent mine out today!! wheeee!

user4534 11/20/2006 #

Mailing mine out tomorrow! :)

Mine was intended to go out today-- I didn't get to the post office: it snowed. I'm sorry!! very sorry. Snow in Seattle means no driving, and I really need to go to the post office to get the postage for this one, so I will not be able to get this into the mail until the roadways are clear again. I apologize for the delay!

user4534 11/28/2006 #

I had an issue with mailing :( I tried to use usps.com to print the label - which is what I almost always do, but it wouldn't accept the address. So I've emailed my partner twice from 2 separate email addresses and haven't received a response back. I'm going to take it to the PO instead today, but hope it doesn't get returned to me :(.

Whoops, wrong swap, hehe, my package for this swap went out a while ago. I'll post to the other one.

This is one of 3 swaps I got out in the mail today(nov 29) and what do I get for it? My truck dies in front of the PO and I have to walk back home in the cold pouring rain!! At least the swaps went out!!

I sent mine out today too! Nothin' like the holidays to slow down mailing...

sultrypeacock 11/30/2006 #

the roadways cleared enough to allow me to get to the post office today! My Spinner's Ball is on its way! :)

The option to leave feedback/rating for your swapper shows up one week after the swap closes. You have to be patient until then! ;) .. or send them a note from the swap-bot "contact" option on their profile.

thanks, peacock! you are right, and i just left her glowing feedback.

user2905 12/14/2006 #

yarnpunk, I see it is your package I should be expecting... woo hoo!! haven't seen anything yet but it is that time of year and you ARE awfully far away from me... will let you know when it arrives!

sultrypeacock 12/19/2006 #

I've not yet received my yarn ball. Still hoping for it's arrival! :)

sultrypeacock 12/27/2006 #

Of all the swaps I've joined on Swap-Bot, this is the one I was most looking forward to getting in the post.

So far, not only have I not received anything (more than four weeks after the send-by date), I have not even been able to get contact with my sender.

Let me say I am extremely disappointed. I had a higher regard for hand-spinners!

PLEASE get in touch with me, Jennifer Bloxham! Let me know what is going on and when you will be sending me my yarn ball!!!

Thanks.

yarnpunk 12/27/2006 #

I've emailed folks who have not sent off their swaps and have checked back to see- at least one was sent since then. I hope everyone gets their yarn ball. I still have not received mine but it looks like its possibly on its way.

Jennifer! Wow!! :) Thank you so much! I absolutely LOVE the handspun yarn you sent! Just adore it!! and you really went overboard on the goodies to go with it, I really appreciate the box you sent-- you clearly put some thought and care into your choices. Thank you. Thank you Lots!
