Description:

Yummy yummy! Whether you're having a celebratory slice for your birthday, or a frosting-covered piece just because you deserve it - cake is something almost anyone can enjoy.

Homemade-from-scratch is delicious, but you just can't beat the convenience, reliability and versatility of store-bought cake-mix!

With a few alterations, a simple yellow cake-mix can easily become an Almond Crusted Honey Cake.

In this swap, participants are asked to send an altered cake-mix recipe to ****2**** partners. You can send the same recipe to both partners, or send them each a different one - it's up to you!

Make sure your recipe has been kitchen-tested and taste bud approved... you don't want to send anything that's going to flop, or taste like old gym socks. If you snag a recipe offline and have never personally prepared it - double check to make sure it has good ratings from chefs who have!

Please do not send an alteration that merely involves changing the amount of oil or eggs. You should send something that changes plain ol' cake-mix into a unique and fabulous cake!

Recipes should be sent on a recipe card for convenience, and can be either hand-written or printed. (Hooray!)

From the last sign-up day, you will have one week to get your recipes out - so be thinking of which recipe/s you want to share. ^___^

If you have any allergies, please post them below for your partners' convenience!

Newbies with well-filled-out profiles are welcome! (We all have to start somewhere.)

No recent no-sends or unexplained 1's. I will check before assigning partners.

Good luck, have fun, and let me know if you have any questions!

this sounds like fun.. my only allergy is spinach but if u end up with a cake mix that uses spinach and tastes good, i'd still like to see it!

LOLOL about spinich.

Mothers you can hide a lot of flavors in a chocolate cake.

I learned that hint thirty years ago.

So if you are not allergic and the children hate spinach chop it in the blender until fine fine fine, and add to the mix and cut down on some of the oil.

I have no recipe, it is just a hint, Play with it if you want to.

Does the finished product have to still be cake? Or can you use a cake mix to make something else?

princessblueberry 02/21/2011 #

good question, Mamabemus...I've got 3 recipes but my two favorite are fruit flavored cakes that I make as cupcakes and call muffins around the kids...DD is allergic to dairy & wheat, so I keep them in the freezer and she gets one almost daily...granted I make the cake mix because why pay $5-7 for a box mix when you can make it for $1

As long as the recipe uses a cake-mix, I suppose it still counts as altered cake mix.

So bring on the unique recipes and let's see what we can bake up.

My recipe requires rum, its just not the same unless you use real, proper, rumbo rum. I don't think its suitable for children (and I put a label as such when I give them away!)

OOOHH dappledgirl if I'm not your partner can you still send me the recipe. I LOVE rum
