Description: | |
For this swap you will alter a wooden cigar box. Cigar shops have tons of these boxes that they either give away or sale for a very low amount $1-3 average. You will send one altered cigar box to your partner. You will begin with a wooden cigar box. Then lightly sand the box to make sure it is clean and smooth. You need to be sure to remove all the tags, unless they are part of your design. Then I paint a coat of Gesso or other primer on it. Next I paint the inside whatever color I want and the outside. Alternately you could paint just the edges inside and out and then cut scrapbooking paper (or whatever) to size and glue it on the box with a good paper glue or mod podge. It is important that you get all air bubbles out before you leave it to dry. You can add little wooden wheels for feet on your box (don’t forget to paint and prime them first.) Then decorate your box, you could use beads, metal tags, paper, tissue, basically any mixed-media item on your box. You don’t have to paint your box you could leave it the natural wood and mod podge on elements to alter it. Just remember make something you would be THRILLED to receive. One person had suggested making it into a bird house. I would recommend googling “Altered Cigar Box” for ideas. Please PM me for questions. If you get started and need help, just let me know. If you can't find a box, but want to join the swap...please PM and I will try to help. This swap doesn’t require you to fill the box, just alter the box. Swap Requirements: Member in good standing with a rating of 4.94 or higher. You must have 10 package swaps. I will be closely checking profiles prior to assigning partners. If you don’t meet minimum requirements, please PM me before you join the swap. Thanks and Happy Swapping. |
