Number of swap partners:20
Description:

This swap was inspired by @firstborn 's MEGA ATC swap, who was nice enough to allow me to start an international version.

So what is this about?

For this swap, you will create 20 (yes, you heard correctly, 20) ATCs and send them to your partner. 20 ATCs, 20 partners, makes one ATC for each partner.

This means that you'll get 20 wonderful pieces of art from all over the world in return.

Now for the boring part, the rules:

  • ATCs should be 2.5 in x 3.5 in (63x89mm) in size.

  • All ATCs must be created by you. Please take your time and create something you would like to receive. If you're new to ATCs and would like to join, that's perfectly fine. Just make sure you put some time and effort into your cards and don't just slap a sticker on a card and call it done.

  • ATCs are sender's choice, but it's always nice to look at your partner's profile first. If they've got a massive phobia of spiders, it would be quite rude to send them a spider ATC.

  • Since 20 ATCs take a while to make, you will have until the beginning of November to send them out (that's a total of 10 weeks). If you don't want to pay for postage all at once, consider sending only three or four a week. That way, you'll split the cost into smaller batches.

  • Everybody is welcome with a well filled-out profile. If you have any recent 1s or 3s, please message me at the time of signing up. I'll be going through all profiles to make sure that this swap is as safe as it can be.

  • Please remember that by signing up, you agree to make 20 ATCs. Do not join if you cannot hold up to that commitment.

  • And, lastly, HAVE FUN!

Lovely idea, but the ostage will ruin me :-( Have fun anyway !!

firstborn 08/18/2010 #

yay, so glad you started this! have a blast! cheers :)

VerkaCZ 08/18/2010 #

Can someone please explain we how postage for sending 20 ATC during 10 weeks can ruin you? Because lets say you will not put much or any extras in the envie, that can be something around 1$ per envie, thats something like 20$ expense during 8 weeks .... so lets say you are very poorly paid and earn 5$ per hour. If you work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, then you spend 1.25 percent of your salary on ATC postage. How this can ruin anyone?????

grandmaroro 08/18/2010 #

hahaha---VerkaCZ, I applaud you. If a person is that strapped for cash, they shouldn't be swapping anyway.

I mailed three swaps on Monday and my postage receipt is 48 inches long for a total of $48.89. There were four partners in one swap, five in another, and twenty in another. But, I knew that I would have the money when I signed up - if I don't have the postage money, I simply don/t sign up. It is just that simple...

One ATC can be mailed with one stamp in the USA-42 cents. International is less than a dollar. I too don't see how this is too expensive. Oh well, I'm in!

Iloenchen 08/19/2010 #

Postage is about the double here in Germany, approximately 2$ for international mail. I'd love a postal service that cheap! Even for mail inside the country, it's more expensive here - and compare the size of my country to yours.

But seeing as this is going to be lots of fun, I don't mind the postage at all. It's just like signing up for 2 1-partner swaps a week during 10 weeks.

GoingTwinsane 08/19/2010 #

@Iloenchen you should hear people ROAR in protest when postage goes up 1 or 2 cents! LOL. I guess it's true that we Americans are spoiled and don't know it!

sommer1 08/19/2010 #

I was thinking it would be fun to get A BUNCH of them since I am new to it! Having a hard time parting with the ATC's I am making! I am loving them all! Looking forward to this swap! and all the STAMPS I will get with this one.... For mine stamps attached to the ATC's would be AWESOME!!

Iloenchen 08/24/2010 #

Thanks to @sommer1 who sent me a message today and asked what would happen if less than twenty people signed up. In that case, I would just assign as many partners as there are people. But we have 39 people watching, so I'm hoping that some will come out of hiding and we will reach 20 before the signup deadline.

Thanks lloenchen for hosting!!! Trying to round up some more friends for this swap...

I was hoping to get some ATC's from different countries as I collect postage stamps as well... We have a few countries represented.... (Germany, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Netherlands, UK).... anyone else out there interested that is sitting on the fence watching this one???
Come on.... jump in with us!

THANKS lthrgirl03 for joining me in this swap! Hey GoingTwinsane... happy to see a fellow FAB member !

sommer1 08/25/2010 #

ClumsyKisses... Thanks for joining! I knew I could count on you too!

we are almost to 20!

zilliah 08/25/2010 #

Yaay, I was thinking about starting an international one after I was sad about the US only version :P Count me in!

inthewild 08/27/2010 #

You now have number 20 all the way from South Africa!! - I look forward to this very much, and even though the postage from here will be quite hefty, the rewards will be worth every cent!! I would love to receive ATC's with unusual techniques, and perhaps a note as to how it's done? I shall do likewise with mine to go.

Iloenchen 08/27/2010 #

Awesome! Thanks for joining!

darcilena 08/29/2010 #

I'm a newbie but would love this kind of swap for Canadian swappers! But to save on postage send 3 each to 7 ppl. which is actually 21 cards but only 7 stamps. I'm getting crafty in my old age! LOL! I'll be watching, come on Canadians! We need your support. Lets get these ATC books filled up with amazing art! I'd love to join but the international stamps are too high at $1.70 per atc, yikers!

Iloenchen 08/29/2010 #

We,, I'd be happy if I only had to pay 1.70CAD per ATC ;)

darcilena, I'd love for you to join, but if you decide against it, feel free to create that swap. It sounds like a great idea and a nice way to save on postage. Not sure if there are enough Canadians on the site, but even internationally, it wouldn't be too bad with 7 partners.

Iloenchen 09/ 1/2010 #

We're in the Top 10! Thanks to everybody who signed up!

Kimminita 09/ 1/2010 #

Now THAT is an Art challenge. Oh and in Holland mailing 1 ATC to outside europe costs 95 euro cents. Inside euro 77. But, as most swappers are still outside Europe, I am likely spending abt 20 euro's. But I spend it on art! And that is cheap art. Joining!

Iloenchen 09/ 2/2010 #

And another reason to move to the Netherlands! The list is getting rather long ...

I have just assigned partners. Please only mark your items as sent once you've sent out all 20 ATCs. It's probably wise to keep a list with your partners and to scratch them off as you send, just so you won't miss anybody.

Have fun! :)

inthewild 10/ 9/2010 #

Just a little note to all my swap partners - the Fifa World Cup stamp on your envelope is one from a set of 10 commemorating S.A. hosting the event earlier this year; but, more important is that the stamp is gold foil and it its only the second time ever that stamps were printed like this. The only other time was during the Beijing Olympics.

marthy 11/17/2010 #

Hi all, and especially the partners I'm sending to...My cards (and many of my daughter Betsi's, because a large portion of our lists are shared) will go out in the mail tomorrow. I'm itching to mark them sent, because I feel terrible that I'm so late...but I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. We've had a bunch of stuff to deal with, and didn't quite anticipate how hard we'd be hit by the emotional aftermath of our loss a year ago. No excuse, just an explanation. You will get your cards; they'll go out tomorrow for sure. BTW, it's been a great swap and I've loved my cards, though I've been late rating...catching up in the next few days!!

marthy 11/17/2010 #

In the mail at last!!! Whew! Loved doing it, but maybe have learned my lesson; it's a whole lot less stressful when you can get them out before the deadline!!!
