This swap is for a new printmaking themed postcard series for printmaking artists. Sorry, no prefab stamps please, all blocks/stamps or plates must be handcarved/etched & designed by each participating artist.

Printing may include but, does not exclude, rubber or linoleum, plastic, metal, wood, or foam. Use waterproof/permanent inks or protective fixative/seal for water soluble inks (reminder, these must withstand postal delivery to your partners). You may like to illustrate, paint, or color your postcards & block prints to enhance the front & backside of the cards (depending on the printing method you choose to use & artistic preference), freedom of expression, creativity, technique, & style is up to the artist (sender).

For this swap you are to create & design a printmaking design for 2 postcards. To begin this printmaking postcard series, this will be open themed. The design direction & print is the artist's (sender's) choice. Make something you would be proud to trade, add to your mail art collection, or matte & frame, this is for 2 postcards, 1 postcard per partner. Note: These projects may be made from the same stencil, block, plate, etc. These may be identical or you may like to decorate these differently, different colors, you may like to add acrylic painting, ink wash, watercolored background, or add illustrations, etc. etc. Freedom of creativity is up to each artist (sender).

Newbies with well filled out profiles are welcome. Providing links to your work is encouraged for newbies & seasoned swappers. 4.9 or higher are welcome, no unexplained 3s or 1s, I will be checking profiles before the swap begins. I will angel if the need arises.

Check in for updates for future printmaking swaps, I shall also be providing links to future Printmaking Postcard Themed swaps in description section in the near future.

Thank you for your participation & I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have about this swap or this series.

Aw, relief only--I was hoping silkscreening would be allowed.

izohgore 08/11/2010 #

Accepting all printmaking forms, as long as each artist handcrafts their stencil, plate, or block to use in printing. ^_^

KatarinaNavane 08/11/2010 #

cool! Watching to make sure I can finish in time

izohgore 08/11/2010 #

Awesome, will be happy to have you aboard, you do such beautiful work!

NaughtyElf 08/12/2010 #

Would we have to send them naked? I mean if I put a lot of effort into it or if the one I receive gets torn, which has happened a lot to the postcards I have received naked lately, I would be sad.

staceyb 08/12/2010 #

Oh man FINALLY a printmaking swap! I would love to join but 100% of my postcards get lost in the mail :( If you do any more printmaking swaps though...count me in!

Moose 08/12/2010 #

Hmm, would LOVE to join. Don't see much printmaking swaps here. But i'm on holiday until the end of the month and already some swaps for the middle of september ... Would you consider extending the deadline (i know, if it's only for me, i wouldn't ask, but maybe there are some other swappers in the same situation as i am ?)

izohgore 08/12/2010 #

They don't have to be naked if you choose, these can be placed in an envelope.

Really, Stacey, you have been having issues w/losing your postcards? If you would like, you can send your card in an envie.

How long would you like the extension Moose btw, this is going to be a series, the following will be themed, this first one I chose to go w/an open theme. ^_^

izohgore 08/12/2010 #

Btw, to let you all know, I have added an envie optional statement in the swap description.

staceyb 08/13/2010 #

Woot! In! I think I will try sending naked again...but with a double in an envelope to be safe lol. Thanks for hosting such a great swap! :)

izohgore 08/13/2010 #

You are welcome, & thank for your participation! ^_^

izohgore 08/13/2010 #

Attention participants & watchers, may I direct your attention to the description: I have just added links to 2 more swaps to follow this Printmaking themed swap. Thank you for your participation! ^_^

NaughtyElf 08/13/2010 #

I may just sit out on the Printmaking ones as I don't have enough resources and tools to really do the job I want to, but I am watching all of your Illustrated swaps! Thanks!

izohgore 08/13/2010 #

A little tip for everyone, Blick art supplies has non latex rubber 4"6" blocks for as low as $1.05 & they have a nice decent carving set for under $7. It might be something that you would like to try, especially after seeing the creativity & skill w/the lovely dragon you drew. ~_^ So happy to have your aboard w/the illustrated swaps, btw, I added more swaps to follow those today.

trollop 08/14/2010 #

awesome I was hoping someone would do a printmaking swap!

izohgore 08/15/2010 #

Love seeing more people into this series, thank you! I have also posted a thread in the swap-bot forums area suggesting a printmaking tag/category. If you also agree, I would suggest those of you to voice your support in this thread, thank you. ^_^

staceyb 08/26/2010 #

I know this is going to be a stupid question with an obvious answer...but I just wanted to make sure. Two of the same postcards to two different partners, correct? I just assumed that since printmaking = multiples that they can be the same print.

izohgore 08/27/2010 #

That's actually are really good question, this may have confused some. I may add this to the description, thank you for asking. :)

Yes, these projects may be made from the same stencil, block, plate, etc. Obviously if you use monotype/monoprint methods, your 2 pieces may be quite different from one another. That's why I had chosen to do 2 for each project, since this is for printmaking & I know I myself can't resist printing & sending only one card. ;) They can be decorated differently or you may like to use different colors, or it can be identical if possible, etc. etc. I'll leave all creativity is up to each artist.

izohgore 08/27/2010 #

I added a note about this in the above description, "Note: These projects may be made from the same stencil, block, plate, etc. These may be identical or you may like to decorate these differently, different colors, you may like to add acrylic painting, ink wash, watercolored background, or add illustrations, etc. etc. Freedom of creativity is up to each artist (sender)."
