yes it can be a used book in good condition and the cup can too. both items can come from the thrift store as long as they are in great condition, no tears or stains, chips or etc.

i think i'm giving up on swap-bot. this is the third swap in which i don't receive anything. what luck.

hey perezeeb.......this is my second swap and I have also received nothing. I was part of the tea cup swap...I received NOTHING. I KNOW I AM GIVING UP SWAP-BOT!!!! There is a group of people that ruin it for everyone. Swap-Bot is a SCAM

I didn't get anything either. It's not Swap-Bot; it's a few individuals who just aren't playing fair. Swap-Bot isn't a scam. Just avoid swaps that have people signed up with low ratings. I haven't received anything on half of the swaps I've signed up for so far, even though I have spent a lot of money on postage and swap items. But I'm not giving up; I'm just going to be very very very careful of the swaps I sign up for, and I will begin reviewing the list of swap participants the day before the swap closes to decide whether or not I will stay in it. Swap hosts need to be more judicious in who let allow to sign up for their swaps.

Miss Merry and purplemorgan--sorry you got stiffed too. Unfortunately it's not as easy as being selective / more careful. the person i got for this swap had a 5 rating, so who was to know? also, sometimes people have high overall ratings, but that can be misleading because when you look at their individual comments they'll have sent stuff for about half the swaps they've participated in so they have high enough ratings in some swaps to make it seem like they're playing fair. and, unfortunately, many swap admins don't bump out people with low ratings. i think i'm going to stick to one on one swaps with people i know. :(
