2 pieces of paper per card the size you need depends on what you are making..decide what you want your finished weaving to be

Take a single sheet of paper to make the warp. (The warp is the strips that you weave in and out of. The strips you use for the weaving are called the weft.)

Cut slits in your sheet of paper. They can be straight or wiggly it's your choice..You need an even number of slits so that you have an odd number of warp strips....

Paper for the weft..((( If you haven't done this before, you'll probably find it easier to use a colour that's very different to your warp, so that it stands out...))) Cut into strips just a little longer than the width of your warp sheet

Starting at one edge of the warp (it doesn't matter which), slide one of these strips through the first slit, over the warp, through the next slit, and so on, over and under, till you get to the other edge of the paper

Second weft strip, this time push the strip through the first slit so that it goes under the warp, then over and so on, until you reach the other side. It should look start to look like a Checker Board.

Do this this until your warp is full

Glue to card or cut out shape whatever you have in mind for your finished weave

Remember to Google for more info or ideals,,,I found several Videos just copy this into your search...YouTube videos on How to Paper weave

Just sent some woven watercolor paper for another swap! Was thinking it would make a nice swap.

I saw this tutorial on DeviantArt a while back, and it looks like the same technique. I bookmarked it so I could try it out later. Figured I would post it after I saw this swap. Hope it helps! :) Paper Weaving Tutorial by ATCfanatics Deviant Art

how large should the sheet be? or is that up to sender? enough to do an atc? or a couple?

Cocoa 08/ 1/2010 #

This is an ATC swap, isn't it?

raven 08/ 3/2010 #

The paper can be any size you feel comfortable to work with.. but you will just use enough to complete your atc with

Atc always....I get so used to hosting these swaps that I forget to add in the description that they are always atc swaps...

You guys will have to help me stay on track..

What if we...experiment a bit, within the realms of "weaving"? I'm thinking curved paper strips. :3 I bought a compass blade for this very purpose some time ago, I'd like to use it again...

I did mine today. It is trickier then I thought it would be!

hopelessshade..... that would be a wonderful thing to do...I bet your partner would love it too...That is why I put into the description that your strips can be straight or wiggly...So the more ambitious and creative artist can have fun too..

Hmmm I'm going to try this tonight, I've done fabric weaving but not paper. We'll see if I can come up with something fantabulous before signups!

This sounds fun. I am a weaver of flax but like to give this a try. Thanks Raven for sending PM to explain things to me, so I'm in. Should have enough time to make this ATC btwn assignments
