Howdy Wolfeagle, Will we have a theme for the September art doll swap? And can you give us a "guesstimate" on when partners will be assigned? I LOVE doing these dolls and like to get working on them as early as possible after I read my partner's profile. I've got a few other dolls in the works right now, and need to stay on top of my "schedule." THANK YOU! CatLinn9

I totally get that which is why I post things so far in advance. I also usually assign partners the day after the last day to sign-up. If its a weekend it may take me 2 days to assign partners. We do have a September doll up......its the Halloween theme Monsters, Witches, etc...make it in SEptemebr so your partner can enjoy it in October. I will be posting the October theme soon. Thanks.

What is the difference between a dotee doll and an "art doll"?

wolfeagle i am now completely confused. does this quarterly doll swap have a halloween theme? or is that the fantastic art doll swap? thanks

Nope, the Quarterly art doll swaps are independent of the Fantastic art doll group. In the Fantastic Art Doll Group there is a Halloween theme doll swap up, but for this swap you can choose any theme that you would like.

The biggestest difference between Art Dolls and other dolls is that Art Dolls are considered Art. They are 3D dolls that have structure and are not intended to be played with. They are not for children. They can be created by a wide variety of materials, including metals and other hard objects. Art dolls are called art dolls because of the art aspect not because of the doll aspect...in fact, many wonderful art dolls do not look like traditional dolls in any way. As far as dotee dolls specifically, most dotee dolls would be considered a craft and not art and most dotee dolls that are swapped do not follow true dotee "guidelines or rules" and are more of a hybrid doll. While some dotees can be beautiful, in general, the art dolls take more skill, time, and effort to create and include better quality of materials. While I am a fan of many dotee dolls, they are just not what this swap is about.
