Using the simple instructions at this site http://www.littledressesforafrica.org/blog/?page_id=477 you will create minimum of 2 pillowcase dresses.

You will create one or more simple dress which you will donate to Little Dresses for africa the address is part of the above link. Before your dress(es) are shipped take a photo of the dress(es), print it and write note on the back for your partner.

The second dress you're making for your partner or their kid but this time your going to decorate it. after you hit the join leave comment listing t lest 10 preferences for your dress (colours, prints, decorations) Don't be incredible specific with your choices you want to leave your partner creative freedom so They'll have fun making it. after you receive your assigned partner find them in the comments add at lest 3 of their preferences to the dress. Don't add decorations not in their list they my not like it.

Note if you do not want a dress for yourself simply state "Please send my dress on to Dresses for africa" then list your 10+ preferences (since it's not for you just list what you think will make the dress really cute while keeping in mind where it's going) If you're sending to someone who mkes this request, you still hve to follow the 'incorporte 3 of their preferences into the dress' rule but send their dress to Dresses for africa with the other dress, however before you send make sure you take photo of it to send to them.

So you actually need to send 2 packages in this swap despite the fact you'll only have 1 partner.

One Package will include at least 1 simple pillowcase dress you will take a photo of the package content and then send it to Dresses for africa

Second Package will include the photo of the First package with note on the back and a pillowcase dress decorated for your partner. Or photo of it if they've requested their dress by sent to Dresses for africa instead

I don't think the packages will be very expensive to ship

Requirements No newbies sorry. 4.8 or higher rating No 1 ratings within the past months.

My Preferences

White or Earth Colours, Plain or Simple Pattern, Lace Trim at the bottom, Pocket(s), Belt, hood (that'd interesting to see), Ribbon/bow, Beads that match the dress colour or compliment it, 1 fake flower (store bought or homemade) by one of the arm straps, Or butterfly instead of the fake flower, small embrodered bird or flower, fancy buttons (not a lot though just a few)

Remember you don't have to use ll the preferences (that'd probable look really weird) just a minimum of 3.

I don't have any little girls in my life at this time, but I do sew "Little Dresses for Africa"
For me, or anyone else in the same situation, can you request that both the dresses be sent to the "Little Dresses for Africa" project?

TerryF 04/14/2010 #

Yes, or you could send the drtess you receive on to them.

iggygirl 04/14/2010 #

Sure in your preference comment just say please send my dress to Dresses for africa too you'll still get mail but it'll just be photos/notes.

can adults fit into these?

iggygirl 04/14/2010 #

I'd think if an adult wants to wear it they'll have to wear it more like a long shirt with leggings or shorts underneath. Otherwise think of a kid you could give it to.

I literally JUST sent two little pillowcase dresses off to Little Dresses for Africa a day ago! Hehe. Great swap idea by the way.

please send my dress to Africa for another little girl to enjoy. My ideas for embellishments are, a pocket, lace trim, purple, ric rack, ribbons, a dragonfly or butterflly, flowers, colorful and happy, ruffles, or homemade pillowcase. thanks

please send the one for me to africa. My preferences are bright cheerful color, no licensed prints (princess, disney etc.), beads, buttons, rick rac, lacy, pockets, ribbons, or emboidery or applique thank you

I often make pillowcases into dresses for my niece. Please make one for her in the size 4 (she's 3, but TALL). A light or bright color would be great, but no pink please, she has enough. I'll leave the embellishments completely open with one caveat: nothing too small or that can come off easily as my other (1 y.o) niece likes to eat everything still. Thanks!.

Blerg. I JUST noticed that this organization is also sending bibles (I can only assume they are Christian bibles) to Africa as well. sigh Would you like some indoctrination with your clothes? Alas.
