Description:

In honor of National Poetry Month. ( No doubt my explanation here may leave you confused but go to Poets.org for clarification and an example.)

The game: Exquisite Corpse is a collaborative poetry game played by several people. Each person writes a word on a sheet of paper, then folds the paper to conceal it. None of the other players knows what the others have written until they're all assembled and revealed. Then this word hoard is used to construct a poem. In order to write a poem, participants usually agree on a sentence structure beforehand.

For our swap: I'll let each of us choose their own structure. The only words outside the hoard that can be used are Articles. Verb tenses can be changed and nouns adjusted to plural or singular after your poem has been written.

How will we assemble our word hoard? We've already assembled a list of random words in our forum topic "favorite words". For your convenience, I have listed all the words added in March. There are 24. To create your poem, choose at least six of the words and go for it. You may create as many lines or sentences as you choose.

Send your creation to your partners (2). The same one to both or an exclusive to each. Rate for the attempt and not your opinion of the poem.

If you all choose to, we could create a forum topic to share our creations with everyone, but let's wait until after the game is finished so no one will be influenced by another.

P.S. The name "Exquisite Corpse" comes from a line of poetry once created using the technique: "The exquisite corpse will drink the young wine."

Wow! What a great combination of a forum activity being used to create a swap. This is going to be a challenge -- some of those favorite words of ours are hard! :)

  1. correct spelling splenetic.

Some of those words I had to look up in the dictionary, so I'll let you all do the same! :)

Okay, I admit that several of those words in the list are mine... but when I saw the name of the swap I thought it was going to have something to do with one of my favorite books of all time. ;/

Thank you Andrea for broadening my horizons.

xxKarenlxx, why don't you create a swap of your own? The more the merrier!

I will watch while I give this some thought :-)

Looks like this swap is going to be small in number. When the time comes, I'll adjust the number of partners to accomadate.

Exquisite corpses are en route to my partners. I'd say "enjoy!" but .... :)
