Description:

A dreamcatcher can be a powerful tool to help change one's dreams. Wiki states that a dreamcatcher is a handmade object based on a willow hoop, on which is woven a loose net or web. The dreamcatcher is then decorated with personal and sacred items such as feathers and beads.

Only good dreams filter through a dreamcatcher, it catches the bad and keeps it within the net.

Let's make a wonderful dreamcatcher for our partner's use. You can be as creative as you want, it doesn't have to be an exact circle - I've seen U shapes and ovals. Make it at least as big as the palm of your hand, and decorate it with feathers and beads or anything else you think will look attractive and be meaningful to your partner. The net portion can be made in the traditional shapes of a spider web, lotus, or netting or you can even shape it into a pentacle or anything else you'd like - just remember to leave a hole of some sort in the middle (that's where the good dreams get through).

A dreamcatcher is much more than just a simple gift, it tells the person you give it to that you care about their well being and peace of mind. - dreamcatcher.com

Don't forget, flaking on a CW swap is bad news!

Is the a minimum diameter size? If we use a circle base that is?

I'm not sure of an exact size but I figured if we make it at least as big as the palm of our hand we'll be doing fine. Does that help or no? I can figure out a diameter if needed.

The circle part I mean.... it can have hanging feathers and beads and such to add to that.

It's just that I already have two 4 inch wooden rings lying around waiting to be used. One is set aside for a mermaid mobile swap I'm doing and I thought the other would be perfect for this.

So is a 4 inch diameter okay to use? It is a little larger than the palm of my hand so I'm guessing it's okay? ;-)

It's perfect!

how do you make the middle part? any ideas? i'll try you-tube. but if you have any ideas that would be great.

i did find some really great tutorials on you-tube. looks like fun!

I'm gonna have to drop this swap. I have a lot going on at the moment and watching the tutorials this seems like it will be time consuming for newbie dreamcatcher makers like me ;-) I hope you all have fun though.

No problem @morgaine I've made a very simple one with a more chaotic netting as I just couldn't get the hang of making the intricate lotus or anything, I'm a newbie maker too! This is my first. I used recycled items, as I'm trying not to buy new materials this month.
