Description:

With permission and a great amount of faith from @darbyflats I will be hosting the Broke Folks swaps! She will be working with me for the first round that I host, so please please please be nice!

PLEASE READ the WHOLE description before joining.

This swap is intended to control postage costs, with people who understand that we can't turn every swap into a package that costs $5 to send (not to mention the content value!)

Choose items that your partner would like based on their profile that fit in an envelope and use only one stamp (44 cents).

GET AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN TO ONE OUNCE!!

If you receive a package of any kind, using one stamp, you MUST rate a 5. This means that even if you don't receive something off of your Wish List, a 5 is still an appropriate rating.

How creative can you be with a one ounce weight limit, lol!? :)

The best part about this swap is it gives you lots of goodies to look forward to when your mail person arrives. AND it's inexpensive to send!

*No unexplained ones or threes in your ratings.

You must have a wish list that includes lightweight, flat items.

*Newbies welcome with filled out profiles. Please go to mine if you need an example.

*Please ask any questions BEFORE you sign up for the swap.

*I have the right to ban participants. I will check every profile. If you feel I might ban you, please send me a message so we can talk about it. I HATE banning people, but I will so my participants feel safe!

DUE TO RECENT REQUESTS: Please note that the point of this swap is to get a much as you can into a one-stamp envie. One postcard is not enough. Try to get it as close to one full ounce as you can, without going over and requiring another stamp! Please send me a message if you have any questions.

Hi, all. Please be kind to @VallesAvallonis I did, in fact, turn these swaps over to her! My plate got kinda full, lol. I will be helping her every step of the way.

If anyone would like to see changes to this swap, please speak up. She is still relatively new, but I have swapped with her personally. Help her learn how to be a great host!!

We removed the "more than one stamp is a 3" rule. That way, it will make it easier for her, and hopefully produce less drama. :)

@moxsapphir brought to our attention for the last swap that there is a thickness limit as well! If your envelope is too thick, even if it only weighs an ounce, you will be charged extra postage. Please keep this in mind as you're filling your envelopes!

As I understand you're a newbie yourself, I felt safer in the no newbies swaps. Sorry I've been flaked on one too many times by them and am leery! Good luck on these, I had fun on the couple other I had joined

VallesAvallonis 03/22/2010 #

@weeatcrayons I'm sorry you don't feel "safe"! I certainly understand the hesitation though. As I've said @darbyflats is monitoring this one and will be my go-to person if I run into some issues. Hope you'll join in later on down the road!

DarbyFlats 03/22/2010 #

@weeatcrayons Thanks so much for your feedback. It helps us learn!

Also, if there is a rigid item in the envelope there is a non-machinable item surcharge which I think is another 20 cents or so..

VallesAvallonis 03/22/2010 #

Thanks @Jesscoot I didn't know that. :)

ladydy5 03/23/2010 #

Yes, or more. If you send a pencil or pen or keychain they will check to see if it goes through their little 1/4 inch thingy and charge you as it is not considered machine cancellable. Been doing this for years and have to watch that.

Just as a quick reminder to everyone who has signed up or is thinking about signing up. @darbyflats and I will be going through all of the profiles once the date has come and before we assign partners! Please don't worry, we'll be very meticulous! :)

DarbyFlats 03/24/2010 #

@VallesAvallonis I, for one, think you're doing a great job.... ah, I'm so proud! :)

evieroz 03/29/2010 #

VallesAvallonis on the comment right before the last DarbyFlats comment you said that you both will be going through all of the profiles once the date has come and before we assign partners. Do YOU ASSIGN PARTNERS? I was under the impressions that we were assigned partners before they came to you. Is that wrong?

DarbyFlats 03/29/2010 #

@evieroz If you look in the box that you find your sender's link in, you can "view participants." We go through the list and check, and double check, and send messages, etc. Does that help or make more sense? YOU can go view the participants. We aren't special, lol. :) Message me if this isn't clear enough.

We don't CHOOSE partners, @VallesAvallonis will simply hit the "assign partners" button.

I'm wondering if we need to send a search and rescue team over to blackcloudsky's house. I'm willing to drive, if the rest of you bring snacks.
