Description:

@ladystephanie had a great swap idea, and we have conspired to offer another Zentangle Sampler Swap! Create a zentangle sampler... a 3.5 inch square, divided into 9 equal sections so it looks like quilt squares (or divide it up another way, as long as you retain nine different design sections, if it suits your zentangling style more effectively!)

Fill each of the 9 sections with a different zentangle fill design. Make five copies of your sampler, leaving a border of about half an inch or so around the edges.

Send one zentangle sampler to each of five partners. (Keep the original for yourself) You will receive 5 different samplers, which you can then use to start your own zentangle sampler pattern book! You can affix to cardstock, holepunch, and store on a metal ring, or put them straight into a folder, or start a zentangle moleskin... you decide what your sampler storage will look like.

If there is any interest we will do another round or two of samplers to try to build up own sampler books.

If you have any ones or threes in your history, pm first with the explanation to avoid being automatically banned from the swap. It won't be personal if you are banned, it will simply be to help make the swap as successful as possible.

Sounds like a fun swap...just wondering, do we do this in black & white? or can we add colour? Thanx :)

hollycm6 03/11/2010 #

Color or black and white, sender's choice, as long as the design can be clearly seen so the receiver can use it for ideas. Thanks for the question!

If you need some inspiration, this site has many examples of different Zentangles plus an indepth description of what Zentangles are: http://www.zentangle.com/about-what-is--1.php. Hope this helps someone. I personally never heard of thiss fascinating art form before. Might just have to try it. :) Thanks for hosting it for all of us.

I just want to double check for sure...As long as our square sampler is divided into 9 sections, it doesn't matter if the sections are square or not, correct? And each section should have a different design in it, right? Thanks!

LOVE this... am always on the lookout for new/different designs to incorporate into my tangles... ! Thanks for putting this one together.... And if you're a member of the newfangled zentangle groups, please stop by the group and sign up for the Spring has Sprung swap I'm hosting! ...scatter joy...

@craftyTweetie that is correct. I have another example of a sampler that @ladystephanie did and divided into kind of more organic shaped sections. (I am wondering if I can figure out how to display it... I know SHE can) And yes, each of the 9 sections with a different fill design. They can be completely independent, or can combine to make some type of cohesive thing... it doesn't matter as long as it's 3.5 inches square, with 9 sections.

Zentangling is really relaxing for me, and I have come up with some lovely notecards and pictures. (I was introduced to it here through a swap as well)

I'm looking forward to this - I already have my sampler done, 2 in fact, I just love doing these.

hollycm6 03/24/2010 #

Me, too!

In answer to a question... I have copied mine onto cardstock, because it was convenient for me, but the swap does not require that. You can copy onto regular paper, or whatever you want. The person who receives will decide how to mount it, and how to store it. I think I will glue or tape mine into a journal (or maybe a special journal I make just for this), to refer back to when I want a little idea. If we like the swap we can do it again to get more samplers in there!
