Description:

I got this idea from another swap in the crafty witches group, "Goddess Paper Doll" what you do is use the templates at this website,

http://www.theenchantedgallery.com/paperdolls.html

to make a paper doll shaped like a mermaid. The tail is a seperate templat from the body so will have to be attached in some way (brad, glue, sewn, etc) to the body. And you have options of what sort of tail you want your mermaid to have.

Decorate her, paint her, glitter her, bead her, stamp her, sticker her, whatever! And on the back please include your name and also a name for her: Sirena, Oceana, Shore Myst, Pearlina--something mermaidish.

only 1 mermaid to 1 partner and you have lots of time to work on her before and after the signup deadline.

Have fun! ~Gloria

I actually got a mermaid paper doll in another paper doll swap I participated in, and it turned out really really cute! =D

do we have to follow the template for hair? Can we make changes to the template? Like changing the direction of the tail or the shape of her waist?

No need to follow the patterns completly if you don't want to! Use your creativity as much as you wish just make sure the mermaid is about the same size as the one in the template :-)

I've already started two! Just have to find some way to do the jointed thing. I take it you use that circle brad thingies you hit with a hammer?

What I did for my paper doll one time for the joints was I used heavy cardstock and used a hole puncher to get the little circles. I then used thread to go through the holes of the joints on the doll (needle-size hole). I glued the thread between two of those cardstock hole punches I made on back and front side of each joint. It kept the joints flat and allowed the paper clothes to go over it - no problem. =) And they were pretty sturdy joints. Just an idea. I didn't want to use those brads 'cause they just stick out so much.

I'm dropping out because mine look very juvenile... I wouldn't want to dissapoint anyone. Maybe next time after I buy some fancy stamps as just using patterened paper isn't turning out so well.
