Earth Day Celebration Package 2010

How do we ascertain $10.00 worth?I mean without shopping.I make bags and ecofriendly products and could put items in the bag that I would sell for at least that,but I want to be sure.

It should be 'at least' US$10 worth. I wanted to put more but didn't want to scare people away from this swap. It's up to you how much you want to put in. Handcrafted stuff is usually worth more I know but hope you get the general gist of things...

About the bag: I wish I could make one but mine would need to be store bought. Does it need to be organic? Is unbleached cotton or burlap OK?

@scrapkween i know of plenty in australia but i see you're in USA. it's very easy to google it or check out some green/sustainable magazines in newsagencies for ideas. you have to be weary that sometimes companies will try to look 'green' but in fact aren't as the labelling system for 'organic' etc isn't that strict yet...

@quainthomesteader if you're not into handwriting the note, you can type it...pls print on recycled paper (or paper that already has something printed on the other side).

@merlainne a store-bought bag would preferably be organic or made from recycled materials etc. another idea is to purchase one from an op shop. otherwise unbleached cotton or burlap is fine too :)

btw, try to consider everything when purchasing products...

1) mileage...how far has it travelled? 2) ethical...fair trade is the way...was slave labour used? does the company support bad arms in war torn countries? (http://www.ethical.org.au/) 3) organic...less chemicals, the better 4) cradle to cradle...not cradle to grave...think about resources used to produce (recycled instead of virgin materials), transport, length of use, packaging disposal --> recyclable?

i said try...but if it's giving you a headache, focus on one thing :)
