Description:

This is a private swap for an embroidered tea towel round robin. This is a preliminary swap description. Please post your comments below, and we can tailor the swap to meet everyone's preferences.

We will each purchase our own kitchen towel that will be sent around for each member to embroider on. I don't think we need to specify how much space we each embroider, etc., since we're all good swappers and I don't think quality will be an issue!

If you want your towel to have a particular theme, please specify it. You may start your towel on its way by embroidering your own piece on it first, or post your theme request in the swap comments below.

If you would like the embroidery to be sender's choice, then feel free to send your towel BLANK to your first partner. If your towel goes missing in the mail, then you will at least not have invested your time into embroidering the towel yet.

How about we allow 2 weeks maximum to work on each towel? Post in the swap comments each time you receive a towel, and post again when you mail it out. Let's also take photos of the incoming & outgoing towel. I would suggest that we don't post the photos ahead of time so that the finished product is a surprise, but it's always smart to have photo back up in case something happens to the swap!

You may click on SENT when you send out your first towel. We will all rate one another when we receive our towels at the end. If for some reason one of the towels gets lost on its way, we could still rate any of the participating members based on photographs. I suggest that we are generous with our ratings for those who took time to hand craft something just for us!

We will send in this order:

@nicc79 to
@kari to
@julief to
@sweetclementine to
@nicc79

Let's post our towels in a zip-top, plastic bag to protect it against any postal spills. You might also consider labeling the plastic baggie with your address. If it comes out of the envelope during mailing, it still will have a chance of finding its way home. Let's also agree to post our towels with a sturdy packaging method (bubble mailers, Tyvek envelopes, or a box, NOT a manilla envelope that might be easily ripped).

How should we go about letting the recipient of the towel know who did each part of the work? Do we want to each include a little note to each person that will be included with the towel (so that the towel will come home with three notes/letters)?

Are there any other elements that we need to cover? Please post your suggestions below. I'm totally flexible on everything and am really looking forward to this fun swap! :-)

I think it's a nice idea to each include a note/letter. Maybe we could put them all in a ziplock bag or something?

Really looking forward to this swap! Thanks for hosting it @SweetClementine

Thanks for the reminder, Julie! I had actually meant to go back and add to put the towels in a plastic bag in case the package gets wet or whatever...and then I forgot. I'll add that in now. :-)

I'm excited :) - sounds like you covered it all.

Partners have been "assigned", and you may post your towel to the person listed in the swap description as your "to" person. Towels should be sent by March 6, but sooner is fine! You may send your towel blank or embroider your first design to set the tone.

If you plan to have a theme or color preference with your towel, please post it in the swap comments as soon as you can. That will allow everyone time to start locating a design that will suit you.

If you're looking for inspiration, I found a Tea Towel Tour pool on Flickr. Some of them are AMAZING!

Happy swapping! This is so exciting. :-)

I've bumped the send date by a week to March 13. I hope that will allow enough time for everyone to find a good towel to start with. Who would have known they were so hard to find?! :-)

Thanks for pushing it back, SweetClementine!
