Description:

I crave change...change in my surrounding, change in my routine, change in my pockets! Throughout my professional history, I have left in my wake a laundry list of jobs, passed on a plethura of employment opportunities, and wondered and wished about a wonderful job that would last the rest of my life. As geeks, brainiacs, geniuses and creative thinkers...there must be some interesting work history stories out there waiting to be told.

PART I - HISTORY AS IT HAPPENED: Describe the positions you have held in your working lifetime. What did you do? How old were you? Did you make an friends? Do you still keep in touch? Did you burn your bridge or keep your option open?

PART II - WANT ADS: Tell about the stuff you circled as potential jobs, jobs you mailed your resume in for but was never called, or maybe interviewed for but didn't get.

PART III - DREAM JOB: If you had all the education you needed and all the right connections, describe your dream job. What is your title? What is your work day like? How much money do you make?

Since this journal is for our amusement and not a submission to the Museum of Art, these journals can be store bought or handmade. There is no requirement to decorate the outside of the journal, but please add a little eye candy to the content. As for handmade journals, if you want to "Go Green" with upcycled envie or brown bag pages...I do not care. Just make sure it will hold together and is legible, and meets all the swap requirements for content. Remember, you will be receiving a rating for this little gem. For a heart, it must be worthy.

Requirement: Minimum of 6 different jobs. We want these journals to be full. If you have had less than 6 jobs, then this swap is not for you.

No extras are necessary for this swap. Just an entertaining synapsis of your valiant attempts to be a contributing tax payer.

Rules:

  1. Send on time.
  2. No flaking.
  3. Please rate.

Any questions, please post them in the comments below.

Happy Swapping!

I love this.

Sounds fun! I have a question though. My handwriting degrades rapidly over the course of writing out so much as a postcard-- it will be a mess if I try to handwrite all the content I want to include here. I assume the content is the focus of this swap and not the format, but I wanted to double-check and make sure it would be okay if I typed up pages and glued them into the journal. Whoever tries to read my creation will end up grateful for me doing it this way versus handwriting it, I promise =)

Yes, content - with a little creativity. Type and glue...works for me. Thanks for asking!

ifluctuate 02/25/2010 #

i think i will name mine "dirty jobs" hahahaha i feel bad for my partner already...

wunderland 02/28/2010 #

With a title like dirty jobs @ifluctuate, that journal better have an interesting cover :p

LadyStephanie 03/ 1/2010 #

Why do I keep picturing a pie chart with % of time spent as the quantifier?

LadyStephanie 03/ 4/2010 #

Does anyone have any questions so far?

grimmlynn 03/12/2010 #

Me! I have a question! Does it matter how long I was employed at certain places? :-) @shinywen I totally understand where you are coming from! I mean, I intend to write neat all the time, but it just never really happens!

LadyStephanie 03/13/2010 #

@grimmlynn length of employ does not matter. You could have a job that lasted one day or was a one-time-deal that had a great story to it. If you got paid for it, it counts!

*Exception - if you showed and performed a job and got ripped off, I'll say that counts too, because you were supposed to get paid. We want to read those stories too!
