Description:

I know some of us don't sew but do love altered goodies, so I thought it'd be fun to do another kind of accessory. For this swap, you'll make or alter one medium size item thing for your partner's dresser (or a pair of something if they are smallish). Some ideas would be (feel free to come up with your own idea as well)

a comb and brush set

hand mirror

jewelry or treasure box

lingerie bag

hat box or hat stand

miniature dressform - something I received in a swap years ago that still sits on my dresser is a wire dressform a little over a foot tall decorated with ribbon, lace and roses.

Please make a note below of a general color range you would like. Senders may also choose to do a neutral color scheme. If you have other ideas for neat dressing table items, list them below as well.. we can always use inspiration!

an altered bottle for perfume might be cool

My bedroom is done in burgundy, rose and olive green. If my partner wanted to do neutrals in the ivory to tan-ish range that'd be good, too.

My room is mainly brown with large brown velvet cabbage roses on my bedspread. I am up for any color or item though.

I found an altered powder puff at the antique mart awhile back from the 40's-50's. Someone had crocheted a round circle for the top of the powder puff and added some detail work. Cool! (and of course I had to buy it!! :)

Watching, a darling idea!

Mysty, m'dear, you must stop tempting me with these marvelous ideas! I'm so in for this... ok, my vital details...

My bedroom does not have a dresser cos it's so darn small! Our double uni-provided bed is squeezed in between a wall of closet doors and the laundry hamper and clothing rack on the other. However - I have carved out a little space for my treasures in a hanging handmade shelf (driftwood and scavenged wood I put together myself, painted charcoal and distressed!)

The colours are a nice melange in two main palettes: bluegreen (teal, aqua, turquoise, seafoam) and brown (dark chocolate, wenge, cappuchino) There are some restrained paisleys and florals, more solids, walls a neutral (read boring and uni-specified) white) Vintage and tarnished metallic accents such as a tin-can lantern and a statuette of St. Francis, my handmade jewelry hanging on one wall, a small mirror, a picture frame, etc. Far too much laundry and some stacked boxes which have no other home...

Oops. TMI? XOXO!

Haha! There's a cure for stacked boxes - toss a pretty table cloth over them and pretend you mean it! That's what I do with my fabric stash in every possible corner!

Sent on the deadline but couldn't get to a computer before now! :) The box is on its way.... hope you'll enjoy the pieces...
