Description:

Anyone who knows me knows that I can really ramble on and on in a letter. I thought it would be fun to create a swap where the object is to write a long letter to a new pal..the longer the better...at least 6 pages or more. I know there has to be some other crazy long letter writers out there. Of course, you must tell the basics about yourself.....kids, marriage, hobbies, job, pets but you must also in your letter(so everyone has even more to write about) include the answers to these questions:

  1. What is your favorite Valentine memory? (it'll be getting close to Valentine's Day when we write these letters). If you don't particularily care to write about that or really don't have one, you can instead write about your favorite Winter memory.

  2. Who was your best friend in school? What made her/him your best friend? Do you still keep in touch?

  3. If you could have one day to completely do whatever it was you wanted, what would you do? (Be creative....lunch with George Clooney is okay..remember, it's YOUR day).

Besides answering these three questions, you must also find something in your partner's profile to comment on. Maybe reading their profile, you see they like Snowmen and you remember just the other day you went outside and made a snowman. Or do they like dogs? Tell them about your dog. Also include 4 pictures...they can be scanned in the letter or actual photographs...showing them who you are. These can be pictures of your kids, your pets, you or from a trip you took.

I hope this sounds like fun to some of you! I know there's nothing I like more than coming home from work and having a huge letter waiting for me to read. After partners are assigned, you have 2 weeks to write your letters.

I really like this idea but having 4 partners to write to is a bit daunting for me. I put alot of effort into letters and having to do 4 really long ones would be difficult to pull off. I'll join if the number is smaller, maybe 2! But for now I'll watch, I love getting and writing long letters too :)

I agree with Sabriel. I love writing long letters, but there's no way I can do four in two weeks. One would be ideal for me, but I could do two. Maybe you could run this swap with two partners and do another a month later.

i'm also watching for now - i love to write long letters, but four handwritten, 6+ page letters in two weeks plus pictures is alot. if the partners are reduced to two - I'd join in a heartbeat!

Ok guys, I've changed it. I was back and forth on the number of partners and I thought 4 might be high. Now, I know. :) The letters don't have to be handwritten but do have to be personal.

Sorry to bother, but... what do you mean, by "at least 6 pages"? A4 or A5, and both sides or not? I ask to be sure, for me 6 pages means "6 A4 sheets both sides", not 3 A5 ones...

christinanwags 12/30/2009 #

6 pages on 8.5 x11 ...6 full pages......so three pages if you used front and back...does that make sense?

Yes, thank you. :)

Do you want them typed or handwritten because that drastically changes how much you can fit.

this is a great idea for being closer ! :)

christinanwags 01/ 4/2010 #

Typed would be great.
