Description:

I'm always curious about the lives other people lead, so I decided to start a swap based on one I participated in earlier this year. For this swap you'll take pictures of things you do or places you visit over the course of a week. The pictures could be of the sunrise from your kitchen window, the bus stop you commute to work or school from, your 1 yr old feeding themselves dinner, you and your friends dressed up to go out on Friday night, the mug of coffee on your desk at work Monday morning, ect... Anything that would give your partner a glimpse into the little things that make up your life. Take at least 12 pictures, print them out no smaller than 2inx3in, and put them in a small book or make a small book of them with embellishments (bus tickets, babyfood labels, stickers, glitter, scrapbooking elements, coffee rings, ect.) on each page. Also write a bit with each picture describing what it is we're seeing, or a funny anecdote relating to the picture. Make it nice and send it off to one partner. There's a full month allotted between partner assignment and the send by date so you can save it for a January filler project or start taking pictures now or during the holidays and have the book ready to be put together and sent out as soon as partners are assigned. Due to the large amount of flaking that occured in the swap this is based on, you must have at least 7 rated package swaps and no unexplained 1 or 3 ratings. Profiles will be checked and any questionable swappers will be PM'd before being dropped from the swap. This is open to international swappers as it shouldn't be too heavy (costly) to mail.

I have already thought of some pictures I want to take for this swap. Including, but not limited to my messy desk. :-)

If people saw my desk at home I think I might be nominated for one of those pack rat hoarder / clean sweep shows!

This sounds like so much fun and I can't wait to get started.

This is a wonderful idea. On my watch list for now.

Same here @tigerlilly327 !!!

I was in that swap this summer, too, and it was so special. I like this idea quite a lot. I will watch until I can see if I will be able to join.

Are there any examples from the previous swap? This sounds fun...

I don't have any pictures of the one I sent or the one I recieved, sorry. Maybe someone else does? All you're really doing is putting together a little scrapbook with pictures from a week in your life.

Bulldog, I have a few pictures of the book I made for my partner this summer, just in case it got lost in the mail ( I always photograph my swaps for this reason!). You can see it at the bottom of this blog post I did: http://hssreader.blogspot.com/2009/08/swap-bot.html I think this swap will be just pictures, but the previous swap you could send any items to do with your week (I sent candy, a movie, a cd...so on).

I don't have any package swaps, but I would like to participate. It's a problem that every package swap I would like to join requires XX rated package swaps already, so I can't really get in, can I? How about taking a chance on little me from a small country from afar...? I could make someone's day...!

Some of us have been flaked on so many times and it's always with package swaps/journal swaps. It's hard to keep putting so much effort in and not get anything back. Some people set up multiple accounts and flake big time. When co-ordinators let in people with hardly any swaps under their belt, all the people that have been flaked on just drop from the swap because they are not willing to take the risk. It's not meaning to be hard on new people, just being sensible and responsible to the existing ones that put in weeks of effort.

I'm sorry but I'm going to leave the requirements to join standing. It might seem unfair, but believe me, down the line when you have a swap partner who squeaked into a swap and then flakes on you, you'll wish the co-ordinator had stood firm. There's a thread on the forums for people who'll swap with newbies to help them get ratings. Maybe you can build up package swaps there?
