Description:

Hello swappers and welcome to the fun let's decorate a mail envie or an envelope swap. For those of us who love receiving fun mail especially the decorated ones I thought it would be fun to also add a short letter inside the envelope to add to the theme.

This swap is International, U.S.A. and newbies are welcome. IMPORTANT: Everyone must have over a 4.8 rating to participate with very, very few no sends. If you don't meet these requirements, message me and we can probably work something out. New users are welcome, but I must ban anyone who looks fishy. (A filled out profile is always a plus.)

RULES:

  1. Send 1 hand made decorated envelope to 1 swap partner. Size of the envelope nothing smaller than, 4x6 in.

  2. Envelope can be any color, and shape. You're welcome to make the envelope itself if you like to and then decorate it. Or use an already made envelope.

  3. Create a fun and nicely decorated mailing envelope. Use any sort of handmade decorations on the FRONT and BACK of the envelope. Envelopes can be decorated with rubber stamps, painted on, collaged, scribbled, colored pens, ink pens, stickers, glitter, mailing stamps, stamps, ink stamped etc. and made out of the most unusual materials.

  4. Make enough room to leave the address on the front of the envelope to your swap partner. Or you may use an address label to add to your envie.

5.. Send a short one page (FRONT AND BACK) legible and handwritten letter about anything. It would be nice to have the letter decorated anywhere on the page. The letter page can be hand made or store bought.
* IMPORTANT*- If your unable to handwrite your letter due to whatever reasons please do type your letter or anything else that needs to be written for this swap.

  1. Ideas what to write in the letter- Hobbies, travel, holidays, my pets, art, recipes, cooking, about you, where were you were born,? how many places you have traveled to?, favorite crafts, books, films, etc.

  2. No flakers.

If this swap is successful I would love to have this every month. Let's have fun and please check out these inspiring decorated mailing envelope sites.

Here are a few of my favorites and please feel free to add some in the comment section below. http://goodmailday.wordpress.com/2009/10/26/in-the-mailbox-of-late-10-26-09-edition/ http://allthisismine.com/shop/stationery/envelopes.html http://mailmeart.com/going-postal/original-mail-art-shop/

I would love to join this swap, however, my letters are always typed, due to arthritis and fibro myalgia. I am going to sign up, and if it is not acceptable for me to do this, then take me out of the swap. I hope that everyone understands though :)

solarts 12/ 6/2009 #

Yes, deercnc you may type your letters.

solarts 12/ 7/2009 #

Jananini 12/16/2009 #

let me understand this swap...are we to use the envelope to mail to our partner or is it to be clean and inside the mailing envelope?

solarts 12/17/2009 #

Good question Jananini. Use the envelope that you decorated to mail off to your swap partner. You may if you like to add a second one decorated and placed inside of the envelope if you like. I hope I answered your question. Cheers! And thank you washingtonmaverick for the envelope photo examples. That's ace!

solarts 12/17/2009 #

ArtyBeth3 12/18/2009 #

solarts - I just saw your February swap, which of course I signed right up for. The thing is, I'm having trouble waiting for the first swap to begin (smile). Long live the making & decorating of envelopes!

Fairy 12/23/2009 #

I want to join to this swap. Can I ? :)

solarts 12/23/2009 #

To Fairy and to others who have asked me the same question. I wait until the very last day of the deadline and decide who can stay and who I will have to drop. I want to give everyone a chance to add info. in their profile, finish past swap that were not sent etc. It's helpful if newbies can think of dislikes (if any) in their profile. If you can't think of any that is fine. Thanks for joining this swap. Have a great Christmas everyone and a great many celebrations! Cheers!
