YO YO YO Let's Swap Some Jan 2010 Blue

I've never made a yo-yo before. Is there a good tutorial out there we should look at?

They're really easy, and good to take on the road with you. My grandmother made quilts using these, 1 for each of her 8 children. The one mom got had about 3400 yo-yo's in it! That's a lot of yo-yo's. But again, they're really easy.

my mom in law who is 86 with alzhiemers have been making yo-yo quilts for the past year. we've so far completed a random print king size, same in a queen size, a king of a beautiful block w/ three colors in each block with borders inbetween of purple, another king with a random inner block with one color border on the block and borders inbetween blocks of ? color (not finished yet), so yes, i definately have to join this one!

So do we make the yo-yos or just send the circles of fabric? I'm confused by the embroidery floss part...

jenni52743, thank you for your question....answer is: Yes, please make the YOYO's up before sending....add a new skein of embroidery floss in the package so that your partners can use them as they see fit.....maybe to sew on the buttons, or as an accent thread when applying the YOYO's on a project. The point is for us to have on hand (after swapping) pre-made YOYO's, accent embroidery floss, and buttons for any future projects we might wish to use them on. If postage is an issue for you....I just sent off my red YOYO's...I included double the buttons required (so 8 buttons instead of 4 per package) and 2 extra YOYO's per package and the postage was less than 2 (fourty four cent) postage stamps...like 61 cents each...so not too expensive! cheapest postage on any fabric swap I've done in some time!!!!!

I'm looking forward to this swap. :)

The host, @perkl8r hasn't been on since December 30th. I'm beginning to wonder if something has happened that's keeping her away. If the swap partners aren't assigned within a week (I think that what it is), the swap gets canceled.

On her profile it actually says

"PERKL8R will be away from swap-bot 12-31-9 thru 1-4-10, returning, Tuesday, 1-5-10. Happy New Year to all my swap-bot buddies!"

but yeah, it's 4 days after when she said she'd be back so I'm not sure.

No I didn't fall off the face of the earth, but I did have an unplanned illness that kept me away from swap-bot longer than I wanted. Talk about withdrawals!....boy have I had them.
