Description:

For this swap, you will need to purchase a small journal or notebook. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, can just be a 25 cent spiral notebook.

Each day, you will write an entry on a certain theme. This entry could be a poem, a bunch of quotes, or just discuss your feelings/experiences/memories on the theme. Entries should be at least a page long, but feel free to make them as long as you want!

Since some people are busy, you don't have to write on one of these themes EVERY day, but try to! It will help unleash creativity, and maybe some stress/pent-up feelings? There will be time in between the sign-up date and send date for you to miss some days... but please don't sit down and write on every single one of these themes at a time. Try to keep it to one or two a day.

Please be sure to date your entries! All entries shuold be handwritten, so try to keep it legible? Feel free to attach photos, stickers, articles, pictures, whatever onto the pages, or draw/paint/decorate them how you see fit... :) Your entries should have SOME words on them, though they CAN be predominantly (spelling..) art if you are that kind of person. :)

Since a lot of effort will be put into this swap, I ask for no newbies or poor ratings. I'll judge profiles as I see fit. This is INTERNATIONAL (woo!). :)

The 31 themes ARE:

  1. Creativity
  2. Victory
  3. Childhood
  4. Forgiveness

That's right about the time my other journal swap will be finished so count me in!

LINBUR0100 06/21/2007 #

Can the journal itself be handmade?

CandyStar 06/21/2007 #

Yes, you can handmake the journal. As long as you handwrite the pages, I don't care how it's bound. :)

Also - Nicole! This was inspired by your journal swap, haha! I was writing in mine (wheee! fun.) and I was like "Omgawsh I SO hope she does another one of these!!!" andthen I was like.... wait... I can host one. HA! And I thought about all the things I wished I knew people's opinions on, and so I made this. :)

Do we follow your each day theme or it that just ideal of what we could do I would like to join just not sure about at the themes

nicoleblack 06/22/2007 #

Well, to be technical, I can't claim responsibility for the other journal swap. I didn't make it, but I sure am enjoying it! It's weird to be journaling for one person other than yourself. It's challenging!

kgeslab 06/22/2007 #

I started my journal last night and wow! It's fun! Thanks for the great idea!

user6740 06/22/2007 #

Does it matter if you stick some of the entries in (like a collage of letters/sentences printed out or cut from magazines etc.)? Not all of them, but I can think of a few themes I'd like to do that for, if I have enough money at the time of the swap to participate :)

CandyStar 06/22/2007 #

Sweetjewels - yes, you are supposed to stick to the theme. You can be really broad with your theme, like on "childhood" you could either talk about your childhood, your own children, memories, or childhood as an idea. Sorry you don't like the themes. :( I tried to make them personal but not so personal that they're nosy... Most of them are a chance to discuss your memories, or events that happened to you, or to give your thoughts on a topic... some entries on some themes might be really super short, and others might be really long... it's all up to you, but you should stick to the themes so that everyone's journals discuss the same topics.

Ayii... from the description - "Feel free to attach photos, stickers, articles, pictures, whatever onto the pages, or draw/paint/decorate them how you see fit..." I would like for at least SOME of it to be your OWN words, though. :) This is YOUR journal.

This is a very clever idea, Jesse!

hyperoma 06/23/2007 #

By the way, are we supposed to write our journal in accordance to which theme comes first? Or do we make sure there are 31 different journal entries on every topic covered? I hope I make sense.

Thanks.

CandyStar 06/24/2007 #

I was thinking that on the first day you would write about theme #1, then on the 2nd day write about theme #2... I guess you could write about whatever theme you like the most that day, but it would reall be a challenge to have to write about that theme that day... :P

-Jesse

hyperoma 06/25/2007 #

I accept the challenge! ^_^

mightyhealthy 06/29/2007 #

CandyStar 06/29/2007 #

CandyStar 06/30/2007 #

I'll definitely be doing a round two when this one is over... :) I'll be starting the swap soon, and the sign-ups will run through July then you'll have the month of August to write your journal. :D

Oh, I absolutely LOVE the idea! This is going to be a fun swap. I'm just finishing another journal swap, so I'm hoping it will keep me in the habit of journaling after I'm done with these. Great idea!

CandyStar 07/ 2/2007 #

Partners have been assigned! Time to start writing those journals if you haven't already!!!

-Jesse

LINBUR0100 07/ 2/2007 #

Uh oh. I have already started mine, and I didn't know we were supposed to take the themes in order. I've done two, and they weren't #1 and #2. I guess I can go in order for the rest of them. Hope that's ok.

junemoon 07/ 4/2007 #

I think I hit SENT on the wrong swap. I'm still writing this journal and have NOT sent it. I will as soon as I finish the themes - abouttwo weeks yet. OOPS.

Prpldy 07/ 5/2007 #

I was wondering, I notice my partner is from Germany, Will she be able to read what I write? Or if I get a journal from someone out of the US, will I be able to read what they wrote?

CandyStar 07/ 7/2007 #

Everyone should be writing in English, so I assume that they will be able to read what you write. :)

-Jesse

Prpldy 07/ 8/2007 #

Thanks Candy Star... I was just curious abut that.

Now I really have sent the journal to Mary Ellen -- poor darling probably won't get far with my handwriting -- I hope she doesn't rate on legibility.
