Description:

This is a swap for Pagans, Witches, and those who believe in the Goddess! What each person will be doing is putting together a single charm with a face of the Goddess inside (these charms will ultimately lead to a charm bracelet with future swaps.)

How the Charm will be constructed and Requirements:

  1. You need a small metal picture frame charm (they are a small square metal piece-picture frame- where you can slide in an image. You can get them at pretty much any craft store. Eg. Michael's, JoAnne's, possibly Wal Mart.) They cost about $2 but they have 2 or more in a pack.

  2. The image- the selected image must fit inside the picture frame! No cartoon-esk drawings/paintings for the picture, we are going for elegance! Also the image is of a Goddesses Face!!! The Maker get to choose which Goddess! The image can be printed off the Internet, cut from a catalogue etc. With the image you can paint a background in watercolor etc. -NO MARKERS/ CRAYONS! If you decide to do an altered art Goddess image in the charm, make sure the image can be clearly seen.

  3. The picture frame comes with a slide-y plastic cover that goes over the image, make sure you don't forget to put it on lest the image is exposed to the elements!

**VERY IMPORTANT*** Additional requirements:

  1. The Goddess face charm must come with some sort of note that explains who She is and what her name is!

  2. You must select an additional hangy thing for the future bracelet -eg. a spiral charm, a small crystal point with a bail attached a pentacle, a tree, cauldron, broom, bell, book, etc. (nothing massively large though, it has to blend!)

Swapper requirements:

-4.9 or higher -No 1's or 3's (if you do, contact me, and explain why) -Newbies are welcome but if you are a Flaker do not join this swap

The Goal of this swap is to really see how the meaning and face of the Goddess differs from person to person. This will become a continuous (future) swap where you keep adding a charm and a meaning until you reach a completed charm bracelet.

If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know!!

Oh! I thought this swap was for a necklace until I read it closer.. Neat swap. I will probably join.

If you want, when you receive your charm, you can actually make it a necklace! Since you are getting only one charm all you have to do is get a chain and slide it on. Easy Peasy!

I hope you join! :)

revolutionoise 10/ 9/2009 #

I have joined :] few more questions though. For the charm, does it have to be the exact ones at craft stores you talk about or can it be any "empty" charm? Can I use resin or some type of craft laquer instead of using the plastic covering?

broche 10/ 9/2009 #

Oh, it deffinitely does not have be a store bought charm, it can be any empty charm! If you want to laquer, by all means go ahead!!! Since I personally don't own any nifty tools for making the frame or have laquer/ varnish I have to rely on the pre-made stuff. But to those who can make it, feel free to do so.

i love whole idea but can u tell me where do i find pics of godesses that you would know

broche 10/12/2009 #

Sure testarosagirl you can find them at:

http://email.gryphonsmoon.com/Pagan+Statuary.page (there is a statue of the moon goddess)

http://fairiesandfantasy.com/catalog.php?item=2690

www.goddessgift.net/page63.html

http://spells-witchcraft.org/pictures-of-greek-gods-and-goddesses.html (THIS HAS THE MOST IMAGES!)

What I will be doing for this swap is cutting a picture from a pagan catalogue and altering it. But if you are going to be using a pic from the internet you will need to crop the image to frame it around the Goddess' face. Another suggestion is to type in the name of your favorite goddess into the yahoo image search engine. Eg. goddess Cerridwen and you will find a ton of artwork and statue images you could use.

I hope that helps!

Would a Scrabble Tile pendant work for this swap? I would love to join. Scrabble Tiles can be made into very lovely charms.

broche 10/26/2009 #

Um, I am not certain if they would work or not, but if you could email me a example picture I can see if it's appropriate.
