Description:

If you love zentangles and crafts, let's make a Zentangle Puffy. It's a small mini-pillow that you can use as a pincushion, ornament, sachet, etc.

To make one: Use a smooth cotton fabric in a solid color. Place it in an embroidery hoop, and make it tight. Trace the dimensions of an Artist Trading Card onto the fabric. Then, use a Sharpie very fine point marker in any color you wish to begin drawing your zentangle on the fabric. Practice on a scrap or two first, to get the hang of seeing how the fabric and pen interact (will the fabric make the pen ink bleed?) I experimented with several types, and had no problem, but keep in mind you don't want to let your pen 'sit' in one spot for too long, otherwise the ink will make a blot (but if that happens, don't worry, just make a new design element out of the blot!)
Next, after you've finished drawing your zentangle, cut out your zentangle leaving a 1/4" border to allow for the seam. Cut out a backing material to the same measurement of your zentangle with border, and place the back and zen right sides together. Sew the seams by hand or machine, leaving a space open to turn the piece right side out. Slip-stitch the opening closed, and add any trims you want to the item (ribbon to hang it, beads, sequins, etc., if desired). You're done! Note: If you want to make yours a sachet, please make sure your swap partner can tolerate fragranced items. Thanks!

I think zentangle would also make great patterned stuffies. like if you make an easy stuffed bear or monster with zentangle skin... maybe thats a future swap :P

What a great idea! Definitely watching this one with the intent to join if I don't get overcommitted between now and then!

Ooooh I love fadingwolf's idea of the monster with zentangle skin!
