Description:

For this swap we will be making what are called "Bottle Cap" pin cushions.

Here is the tutorial I used.

They are so super simple! I went on a scavenger hunt in my house and found 10 bottle caps and made them up real quickly. I just wish I was better at the fancy embrodery stitches. I can do the whip, blanket and chain stitch and that's it. LOL But I am learning and that is the purpose of this swap, to learn how fun and easy they are to make.

You will have 3 partners and you will send each of your partners a bottle cap pincushion you have made. These can either be all felt, or fabric or a combination of the two. However you want to make them, as long as there is a recycled bottle cap in there somewhere. LOL

These are not partner profile specific, so you can make them in advance.

Since they are so fast and easy to make, I'm doing a relatively quick turn around on the swap.

I'm planning on doing a few more pin cushion swaps as I am now addicted to making them, so be looking for them in the future!

Some of the boring, relative stuff:

  • No no-sends within the last 3 months. No exceptions.
  • Newbies are welcome as long as you have 5 package swaps you have been rated for.
  • Must have a rating of 4.95 or higher.
  • I reserve the right to boot anyone from the swap I get a funny feeling about. I trust my instincts.
  • I will angel if necessary, but if I am forced to, you can guarantee I will blast the flaker all over the messaging boards.

I just wanted to tell you what a cool idea this is. I don't have a clue as to how to make them, what goes in them. But, I sure do appreciate the awesomeness of what you all make.

Is there a way I can see pictures of what you all make. If anyone has flickr where I can see them. Please and Thank you.

Thanks guys. I didn't see the link before, must be my eyes getting old. I don't think it's something I can do with out lots of practice first... But I would so be interested in seeing what you make. so I'm just going to check your flickr out and see if you've posted your creations.

It looks and sounds like a wonderful swap.

Serenity I felt the same way! But once I made my first one it was so super simple!!! I ended up making about 12 of them in an afternoon after making that first one!! So I've been scouring my family's houses and cars for bottle lids. LOL

I can't join (yet anyway!) but I loved the tutorial and ended up making one for myself last night while I was chatting on the phone to a friend. SO cute!!

Personally I would have joined if it weren't for such a quick turn around. You do realize the 7th is Labor Day. Some people will be out of town including myself. I wouldn't be functional shipping anything out until around the 8th or 9th. lol If you should do it again, let me know.

I'm going to echo @needlewings comment- I know why there's such a quick turnaround date but with labour day and back to school stuff to deal with, I wouldn't be able to meet the deadline =/ the idea IS cute though and I'll be waiting around for more rounds of this ^^

I don't understand why we don't have our partners to send to as of yet? Monday the 7th is a holiday how do I send this out? I am very much looking forward to this but I was really looking forward to the name I have to send to in order to plan what they like?

i'm sorry I didn't get this done in time. I am changing the due date to send to the 9th since I was a day late in assigning partners.
