I'd like to get mine unwritten, inside an envelope posted with as much stamps as you can with nice cancelations.

Thanks in advance.

WHATS CANCELATIONS?

CWarner 06/10/2009 #

poliveira1978 means the post office stamp that marks the stamps as used. Used to be they were round and showed the date and city from where the card was mailed, but these days they are done by machine with long, squigily lines across the top, right side. If you ask at the post office, a nice clerk will hand cancel your card. Many people like the cards for the stamps too, and some even collect postcards for the cancellations. Cancellations from towns that don't exist anymore can be valuable. I know someone who got a postcard of the NYC Twin Towers that had a postmark cancellation of 9-11-2001 and that became a valuable item as well. "Nice" cancellations just refers to the fact that they are clean and legible.
