Description:

Edited from the swap archives and the super-talented @FarStarr

We will each make a zine by folding a piece 8 1/2 X 11" (A4) piece of paper or lightweight cardstock or handmade paper. How your zine folds is up to you! Just make sure that the pages fold over neatly. It should be an 8 page mini zine, including front & back cover.

Decorate the cover or title page with your chosen theme, or any 1 page of the zine (if you prefer a random zine). If you would like people to stick to a theme, please put that in your first note to the partner you send to. Please respect partners’ themes (if there is one) and partners’ profiles in general. For example, if no theme but they dislike cutesy things or floral prints, don’t add kawaii or anything flowery to their zine.

Send the unfinished zine in an envelope to your assigned partner and post in the comments that you’ve sent it. Do not “click when you have sent your items”. This will not happen until you’ve finished the last page in someone’s zine.

When you receive the first zine, try to complete your page and move it along to your partner as soon as possible, taking no more than 1 week. This is going to be a long swap due to postal times. I will extend the final send-by date if needed, if any zine is taking too long to get to the next partner. Just please communicate below so I know what’s going on.

After partners are assigned, I will post the order of who that person sends the zine to, and so on, until the zines are completed, as well as who the last person it should be sent back to. This swap will have only the number of participants as the number of pages in a standard zine made from 1 piece of A4 paper. (8 of us)

We will all work in each zine eventually. At the end of the swap, we will each get our own zine back hopefully! The send-by date will be long enough so each person has a week to complete whichever zine page is in their possession and postal times. Let’s communicate in the comments below WHEN and WHO’S zine as we send and receive them. (I’m posting an example as the 1st comment.)

Please PM me or comment with any questions. It’s important to check the comments regularly since that’s where all the swap info will be.

I’m giving the whole month of September to sign up but will change that once 7 people have joined (plus myself = 8). The send by date is tentative and probably will change as the swap goes on. We can start our zines immediately though!

Assuming this group is up to date, usual group rules apply. I will check profiles before assigning partners and check in regularly as the swap goes on to make sure we’re all communicating. I can’t angel if a zine goes missing but I can send one of mine if needed.

Receiving/sending example:

Send your own zines to your assigned partner 1st by Monday, October 14th. Do not click that you have sent your items.

Then once you receive your partner’s zine, send it to your assigned partner no later than a week later.

When you RECEIVE your assigned partner’s zine (the 1st one sent to you), do not rate them yet.

Complete a page in each zine that comes to you, sending them on to your assigned partners no later than a week later and posting in the comments as you receive/send a zine (as posted above).

When you have completed the last page in the 8th zine and send it to that person, click that you’ve sent your items. When you receive your zine back, rate your partner.

When you have finished the last page in a zine, PM that member for their address and send it back to them, and post here in the comments.

I hope this is not too confusing and works for everyone. Thanks so much for joining!
