A collage cluster is like a little vignette---a ready-made collage piece you can easily incorporate into an art journal page or other project. It's a great way to use up scrap bits and create something new. Create for your partner 3 collage clusters. Each cluster needs to be created using no less than 3 layers/components. Start at the bottom and work your way up! Maybe a scrap of map for the "base", then layer on a die-cut, add an image or a word, finish with more die-cuts....or even bring in some paint pen, marker doodling or stamping. You are free to machine stitch them, use staples or just glue the pieces together. If you add any extra mediums, ensure that they are set or sealed and won’t transfer. These do not need to be a standard rectangle or square. As you build layers you can have parts hanging off a side. You can have ripped or irregular edges, tabs, dangling threads. Size-wise you should aim for somewhere between 3x5 inches (standard index card size) and 4x6 inches. I made 10 such clusters in about an hour and a half this past weekend using patterned paper scraps, die-cuts, book pages, map pieces, printed images, corrugated paper, magazine bits, thread, tissue paper and sticker quotes. You can see the sped up process on my Instagram: [HERE]. So, 3 clusters, minimum 3 layers/components each and sized between 3x5 inches and 4x6 inches. |
